Dark Horse is bringing the Terminator back to the 1980s in a new four-issue miniseries, titled “Terminator: Sector War.” The series, written by Brian Wood (“DMZ,” “The Massive”) and illustrated by Jeff Stokely (“Jim Henson’s The Storyteller,” “The Spire”), will see a second Schwarzenegger-style cyborg arrive in 1984’s New York City, set to complete a mission separate from his movie counterpart’s.

This new Terminator has it out for rookie NYPD officer Lucy Castro (pictured on the cover below), who will have to survive the robot assassin’s relentless onslaught and figure out why she’s been targeted for death in the first place. According to the series’s official description, found within ComicBook.com’s exclusive announcement, Castro “will have to rely on unlikely allies to survive till dawn, as the machine that never sleeps stalks his prey through the city that never sleeps.”

If that turn of phrase doesn’t get you excited for some classic, ’80s style action, we don’t know what would. “Sector War” is Dark Horse’s first new “Terminator” series in several years, following 2014’s “Terminator: Enemy of My Enemy,” joining a long, long list of tie-in comics and series expanding on the Terminator universe. This one looks set to re-capture the magic of the original movies, but you’ll be able to tell for yourself on August 15, when the first issue of “Terminator: Sector War” releases in stores.
