Some years back, when Terry Moore’s seminal “Strangers in Paradise” series ended, the book was compiled into two giant hardcovers encased in one large slipcase for the “Strangers in Paradise” omnibus. Packed with an additional book of just covers and coming with a print run of 1250, this book is as rare as they come these days. If you check on eBay, you’re likely to find an edition of it running for at least twice its original price, and even then you’re probably only going to see it once a month. Yes, it seems that if you want to enjoy one of the best comics of all time, you’re going to have to find another way.
Until … well, now.
Announced yesterday, Terry Moore is taking the omnibus back to print, but this time in a softcover version. Coming in at 2400 pages of great comic, this edition will have a print run of 5000 and cost just $100. What’s more, if you pre-order it (the book is slated for a June/July release), Moore will throw in a brand new exclusive “Strangers” print, just for you! And it will even come in the large slipcase that the original version did, so there’s no worries about housing the books when you’re not reading them. How can you pass that deal up? Unless you have the hardcover, in which case I suppose it’s probably easy enough to.
But still. “Strangers in Paradise”, the omnibus, back in print. This is a deal no one should miss, and it’s an INCREDIBLE steal (the book ran 106 issues, and with $2.75 an issue at the beginning and $2.99 an issue by the end of the series that makes the book’s single issue value somewhere around $300). If you’ve never read the book and want to support an incredible creator, now’s the time.
