Hell. Yes.

Following his recent stint in the one-issue-left “Superior Spider-Man”, Miguel O’Hara AKA the Spider-Man of 2099 is getting his own All-New Marvel NOW! title from creator Peter David, “Fearless Defenders'”Will Sliney, and that neat cover from Simone Bianchi.

According to Newsarama, the new ongoing series will focus on O’Hara’s efforts in the present day to divert Tiberius Stone (O’Hara’s grandfather and founder of Alchemax, the company that basically owns the world in 2099) from creating a dystopian future while simultaneously coming after arms dealers selling O’Hara’s Spider-Slayers to foreign countries.

Fans of Spider-Man 2099 are sure to be stoked over original “Spider-Man 2099” writer Peter David returning to the character he created with Rick Leonardi back in 1992. I’m a little iffy on his current work with “All-New X-Factor”, but David’s a writer who can walk the line between serious and hilarious (his solution to name confusion now that there’s two Spider-Men in New York? Calling Miguel “S-Man.”) Will Sliney, meanwhile, seems to be more stoked than anyone this book is happening, and that he’s drawing it.

“The great thing about Spider-Man 2099 is that I was recommended it by fellow artists when I started interacting with the comics community in New York,” Sliney told Newsarama. “I pretty much wore it on my sleeve that I was a Spider-Man fan and all I kept hearing was that Spidey 2099 was the guy that most artists wanted to draw. Naturally enough, I sought out as much of the series as I could get my hands on and of course I loved everything that Peter and Rick Leonardi created. I see its influence in so many things these days so it’s only right that it has come back.”

If the concept art above is any indication, Sliney seems like he’s a good fit for the title and with David scribing it, I think we can all get shocking pumped for “Spider-Man 2099” when it drops this July.
