The Black Dossier Vinyl To Finally Be Released

By now I’m sure most of you know the story, but for those that don’t here is the brief version: Alan Moore and Kevin O’Neill’s “The League of Extraordinay Gentlement: The Black Dossier” was originally slated to come with a 7″ vinyl record featuring two songs by Alan Moore and Tim Perkins under the guise of Eddie Enrico and His Hawaiian Hot-Shots. DC did not release the record with the original hardcover release, later stating that it would come with the omnibus. It did not. Fans and Moore were unhappy, and reasonably so. Moore took “TLoEG” away from DC/Wildstorm and the America’s Best Comics imprint and has never looked back.

Now the League can be found at Top Shelf, where they are preparing to release the final volume of “Century”, a three part story that  began in 1910 and ends with 2009. And wouldn’t you know it, as an exclusive released at Gosh Comics in London, fans are finally going to get that vinyl.

Featuring the songs “Immortal Love” and “Home With You”, the 7″ doo-wop single will be available to those who attend an upcoming signing on the 23rd of June and purchase a copy of “the Black Dossier” hardcover. If you buy the hardcover now, you get a token for the record to be picked up on the day of the signing. You can also get a snazzy “2009” print (pictured above), also exclusive to Gosh Comics. Fans of Moore and O’Neill’s sprawling literary epic probably do not want to miss out on this, as this will assuredly become a collector’s item of collectors items, right up there with copies of the never re-printed “Miracleman” #1.

For those who don’t live in the UK, though? Out of luck. No mail-orders for this one. So, like me, you better hope you have a friend who likes you a whole bunch.

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
