The Creator’s Front For Diversity In Comics Want You To Read Something Else

The above message was paid for by the Creator’s Front For Diversity In Comics.

The video here, which features everyone’s favorite The Goon creator (making somewhat “controversial” comments?), was uploaded last week to the YouTubes, and it’s making it’s way through the various comic news sites as we speak. Serving as the comics version of An Inconvenient Truth, the video tells us about the difference between creator owned work and that from Marvel and DC. As the video’s information reads,

No other entertainment industry is sustained from one genre and 50 year old material. The comic book industry is living off of decades old company owned super hero titles while shoving new original content to the side. The result is the industry has slowly been losing readers for years and alienates anyone who is not interested in reading books about guys in tights.

While the video makes boasts for something that may not actually be feasible (that of not working with Marvel and DC characters, because really – everyone loves a good superhero romp (right?)), the point and message is clear and one that should be supported: Support original creator owned comics and diversified content. No matter what you think of the delivery for the message, that is still a 100% valid claim.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
