The Curious Case Of Flashpoint’s Cosmic Hooded Character

I think it’s safe to say that by now, everyone who was going to read Flashpoint has read Flashpoint. As such, you may have noticed that as Barry Allen raced to fix everything, he came across an unknown and unfamiliar cosmic being who attempted to, with a bit of odd dialogue, explain why Wildstorm, Vertigo, and DC characters were now all going to be part of one new universe. We have no idea who she is, what she’s talking about with all this “they” stuff, and why all the heroes have to have collars in order to prepare for their impending arrival.

What we do know, as pointed out by several sites, is that she didn’t just disappear after Flashpoint ended. In fact, she appeared in the only other book published by DC this week: Justice League #1.

So who is this new cosmic character? Is she a re-done version of an old character, such as a new form of Monitor? Or is she simply another cosmic force that Geoff Johns has created for the DCU? Is anyone willing to guess that she’s a deus ex machina waiting to happen? Any guesses are welcome in the comments below.

It is probably safe to assume that this isn’t the last time we’ve seen her, and that she might be appearing in every first issue of the DCnU (given several rumors floating around the net). Be sure to keep your peepers open and looking out for her appearances, and every week in the coming month we at Multiversity will do our best to point out where she’s hiding amongst the various titles.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
