Publisher First Second Books has announced a pair of new graphic novels: M.T. Anderson and Jo Rioux’s Medieval fantasy book “The Daughters of Ys,” and Bryan Caplan and Zach Weinersmith’s educational “Open Borders: The Science and Ethics of Immigration.”

“The Daughters of Ys” visits the mythical Celtic city of Ys – an Atlantis-esque city that has long since been swallowed by the sea. Writer M.T. Anderson (“Yvain: The Knight Of The Lion“) and artist Jo Rioux (“The Golden Twine”) will take readers to the legendary Breton city, and introduce them to King Gradlon and Lady Malgven, and her daughters, whose internal conflict drives the plot of the graphic novel. The book combines family and political dynamics with spectacle. The A.V. Club has an exclusive preview of the book.
“The Daughters of Ys” will be available for purchase May 12, 2020.

The other book announced is called “Open Borders: The Science and Ethics of Immigration,” and is written by economist Bryan Caplan and illustrated by Zach Weinersmith (“Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal”). The book argues for the global disintegration of borders and an invigorated system of international immigration. Caplan takes a conversational tone and provides research in an attempt to explain how open borders could eliminate extreme poverty and build a strong global economy. Paste Magazine has the exclusive on the book.
“Open Borders: The Science and Ethics of Immigration” will be available for purchase on October 29th, 2019.
