Spinning out of the previous “Eternal Warrior” series at Valiant that was helmed by Greg Pak, Valiant has announced today that there will be a new “Eternal Warrior” three-issue miniseries written by Peter Milligan and illustrated by Cary Nord entitled “Days of Steel,” launching in November.
The latest series finds Gilad in the tenth century, tasked by the Geomancers to find and save a baby whose fate is intrinsically intertwined with the future of an entire people. Like a spin on “Lone Wolf and Cub” and something you’d find in an Akira Kurosawa film, “Days of Steel” seems like a grand samurai adventure with the Eternal Warrior at the heart of it. Of course, the Eternal Warrior is an interesting as you can place him anywhere in history and work with him, something noted by Matt Kindt in our recent interview about “The Valiant,” which also features Gilad as a central character.
Valiant is super pumped about this release, and has provided preview art from all three issues of the series to help promote it. Take a look:
This three-issue mini endeavor seems to be in line with other trends at Valiant, as “Shadowman” was also followed by a three-issue mini (written by Milligan), and the recently concluded “Quantum and Woody” will find the characters moving over to “The Delinquents,” a four-issue mini that co-stars “Archer and Armstrong.” To me, the mini system seems pretty good; I like ongoings, but I do have to admit that “End Times” got me to check out “Shadowman,” and it seems like “Days of Steel” has the same inherent goals; that they’re both penned by Milligan also fosters a lot of faith.
