The Fake Trailer for the Gritty “Adventure Time” Live Action Film is Kind of Disturbing, Kind of Awesome [Video]

I’ll be honest: there are a lot of weird, random trailers for weird, random live-action reboots of things that don’t necessarily need to be weird, random, live-action or rebooted. Take this semi-SFW example, for instance. But every now and then, you get linked to a video that’s weird, random, and live-action — yet still strangely gripping, and fascinating. So you have to share it on.

From the Gritty Reboots YouTube channel, the same folks who have done trailers of realistic versions for lots of things like Calvin and Hobbes and Pokemon Snap, comes their latest live-action reboot: Adventure Time. Featuring a disturbingly realistic version of Jake and an older Finn crossing across an even more wasteland-ed Candy Kingdom, this puts the post-apocalypse in Adventure Time like never before as Finn and Jake are placed with the challenge of bringing Ooo back to life. And with its flashbacks to the Mushroom War and cameos from famous Adventure Time characters, it’s safe to say that this video is just as if not more insane than the cartoon itself.

But it’s an impeccably well done video from a great and creative team that just kind of has to be watched, both for fans of Adventure Time and fans of well done videos. At the very least, you’ll never hear “All Our Food Is Dead” the same way again, or BMO’s monologue from “The Creeps.”

Take a watch:

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
