“The Flash” Coming to “Arrow” and then His Own CW Series

It seems there’s exciting news for DC Comics fans today, as CW announced that they’ll be bringing a Barry Allen centric “The Flash” series to life in the coming years, with the character debuting in this upcoming season of “Arrow.” The series will be brought to life by “Arrow” co-creators Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg (also known as the writers of the “Green Lantern” movie and “Vibe” respectively), and will also feature Geoff Johns on the writing staff (that part is unconfirmed).

In addition, the CW shared that the “Wonder Woman” show is on hold, as they admitted the script is not where they want it quite yet.

Quick aside from a huge Flash fan (namely, Wally West, though): this is disappointing to me. I was not a religious “Arrow” watcher, but from what I saw, it was pretty sub-standard television viewing that was “Smallville” lite. Compared to the idea that “The Flash” would be on the big screen as soon as 2016 (as SDCC rumors said), this is a massive downgrade. Will I check this show out? Sure. Do I have much faith that it will be more than a C-level TV show with unappealing speedster special effects? Not really. I hope they take a cue from whatever Zack Snyder did on “Man of Steel.” That was the best looking superspeed I’ve ever seen…but he was dealing with a far bigger budget.

In short: meh.
