This year at Comic Con, Dark Horse is set to announce that the Guild series 2 will indeed see the light of day in the comic book world, and is set for release in 2011. However, the news broke early over at Comic Book Resources, including a chat with the series writer, Felicia Day!
The second comic will be a little different than the first. Instead of telling a straight story, it will essentially be composed of five one-shots, each focusing on a different member of the guild. Each book will feature a different artist as well. Day won’t be writing alone this time either, with Jeff Lewis (who plays Vork) joining in on the writing duties.
Codex had her three-issue arc, and I had a lot of tangential story ideas out of issues – and there’s no room in comics to have all these side stories. To have one issue focusing on each of the characters would enable me to do standalone stories about those characters, kind of like peeling back the layers of their life in a way we don’t see in the show, and then use different artists for each issue.
The Guild comic is set to come out in about a year, and the fourth season is airing now on internets and consoles everywhere. Be sure to also check out the chat with Day about the comic here.
