The following is all spoiler information for the upcoming changes in Hellboy post-The Fury, an event almost two decades in the making. IF you haven’t read The Fury yet, it’s best if you skip this article until you do.
If you have read it, however, check past the cut for some new information.
Hellboy: The Fury #3 finds Hellboy being murdered and dragged to Hell. With a Hellboy in Mexico OGN set to debut later this year, the next Hellboy story will be entitled Hellboy In Hell – a mini-series Mignola had been planning since as early as 2002.
This seems contrary to some earlier reports that Hellboy would become an ongoing post-The Fury, with Mignola back on art. As reported in an interview at CBR, Mignola seems to state that Hellboy will be dead “forever,” although how long forever is is certainly up in the air at the moment. BPRD and Abe Sapien stories will still continue, however, and Hellboy will continue to get stories either in the past or as a dead “person” in Hell.
Hellboy’s future is still very much in the air, but one thing is for certain – Mignola and friends certainly crafted a fantastic finale for him to go out on, and it’d be a shame for you to miss it.
