Announced via Marvel’s Next Big Thing live blog, it looks like the duo behind PunisherMAX will be bringing the Punisher against the jolly green giant in an upcoming arc of the Incredible Hulk.

Entitled “Stay Angry”, the new five-issue arc finds Aaron and Dillon together again, as the fallout of “Hulk vs. Banner” leads the Banner-less Hulk on a (hinted at) world tour as he has to “stay angry in order to survive,” with Aaron comparing it to the Crank films. Aaron also describes the arc as “act two” of his overall Hulk story, with this arc being approached in an issue to issue format and upcoming guest stars such as Wolverine, Punisher and Kraven, as well as a bevy of new characters like “whacked out Mexican drug dealers, Atlantean mobsters, lots and lots of bigfoots and Russian super soldiers.”

Aaron and Dillon have already proven themselves to be a formidable team in the pages of PunisherMAX, and Dillon has even drawn the Hulk being crazy before in the pages of Mark Millar’s vampire-filled Ultimate Avengers 3. Aaron also mentions that the issue will be like “Hulk wandering into an issue of Preacher,” which is a very exciting prospect to say the least.

The arc will begin in May with issue #8, with Steve Dillon on the first issue, Pasqal Ferry on the second and subsequent artists to be announced illustrating later issues.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
