When the DCnU launched, it began with the Joker getting his face cut off by Tony Daniel in “Detective Comics” #1. Since then, the Joker – Batman’s ultimate enemy – has been missing. That is, until now.

Teased on the DC Blog, the above teaser “announces” that the Joker will be making his return in Batman #13 come October, under the pens of Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo in an arc titled “Death of the Family” (an assumedly not-so vague reference to “Death in the Family,” the story in which Joker killed Jason Todd in the old continuity). As Snyder tells the DC Blog,

“Point blank: This is Joker like you’ve never seen him before. He has a mission. He has a secret. And he has a serious axe to grind with Batman. It isn’t going to be pretty, but it’s going to be a wild ride. Thanks for taking it with us.”

The last time Snyder wrote the Joker in the penultimate issue of his “Detective Comics” run, it was rather insanely great. It’d be hard to imagine this won’t follow similar suit. Look for it in October.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
