Via Syfy Wire, Vault Comics have announced “The Last Book You’ll Ever Read,” a new series by writer Cullen Bunn and artist Leila Leiz with colors by Giada Marchisio, letters by Jim Campbell, and design work by Tim Daniel.
The series follows Olivia Kade, the author of Satyr, the most controversial book in the world. The book is said to be so provocative that it’s getting blamed for the breakdown of civilization, as acts of violence break out everywhere people are reading it. Kade hires Connor, a security consultant, who she asks not to read her work, protecting him from the book’s madness. From that moment on, Connor and Olivia’s fates are intertwined, as they face a horror of unbelievable proportions.
Bunn says “this isn’t a story about the end times. It’s about a new beginning that is violent and terrifying.” Leiz explains that the book’s visual inspiration comes from classic Hollywood, saying “Marlene Dietrich, Lauren Bacall, and Audrey Hepburn inspired me when designing Olivia, who’s a mysterious and cold, but fragile character.” She continues, saying “every issue is full of action, and Cullen manages to keep me always in suspense.”
“The Last Book You’ll Ever Read” will also feature a variant cover by Jen Hickman. You can check out a preview at Syfy Wire. “The Last Book You’ll Ever Read” #1 will be available in comic shops on July 7.
