According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Magicians will return to comic book form this November with a five-issue miniseries from BOOM! Studios’s imprint Archaia. The creative team of the original graphic novel “The Magicians: Alice’s Story” returns, with writers Lev Grossman and Lilah Sturges (“Lumberjanes: The Infernal Compass,” “Jack of Fables”), and artist Pius Bak (“Firefly: The Sting”) introducing a new generation of students to the Brakebills University for Magical Pedagogy. Grossman, who wrote the novels The Magicians, The Magician King, and The Magician’s Land, plans to explore stories where he says “the books just never got to.”
Co-writer Sturges added that, “Setting [the new series] at Brakebills gives us the chance to tell all new stories in a familiar setting, with a mixture of existing and new characters, and give readers something that feels very fresh while being unmistakably ‘The Magicians.’”
“The Magicians” miniseries marks the second entry in The Magicians franchise by BOOM Studios!/Archaia since the publisher acquired the comic book license to the property last year. “The Magicians: Alice’s Story” OGN was released in July.
“The Magicians” #1 will be available November 6th on digital platforms and in comic book stores. Providing the main cover artwork is Qistina Khalidah, with Alexa Sharpe illustrating variant covers based on tarot cards. Head on over to The Hollywood Reporter for more artwork in the meantime.
