The New “Man of Steel” Trailer Looks…Powerful

I’m not the world’s biggest fan of Zack Snyder, the director of the upcoming “Man of Steel” Superman reboot film. While I loved his Dawn of the Dead, I could care less about 300 or Watchmen, and I genuinely disliked Sucker Punch. Him being announced as the man to bring Superman back to relevancy in film (along with Christopher Nolan) seemed fitting, but not right to me.

That said, this second trailer that dropped today (and is below) made me eat crow a bit. Equal parts emotionally resonant and huge in scale, what we’re given here is a teaser that certainly whets my appetite and then some. I mean, come on, we have a great look at Clark’s youth and the foundation of his heroism, Kevin Costner bringing it as Pa Kent, a look at Amy Adams as Lois Lane and Russell Crowe as Jor-El, AND MICHAEL SHANNON AS MOTHER FLIPPIN’ ZOD. Finally, a character who looks as crazy as Michael Shannon seems to be!!

Not only that though, but Henry Cavill looks like he fully embodies Superman. True story. I’m not sure what the deal with the beard is, but pitch perfect as Superman, for sure. Plus, it looks like Nolan is bringing the best out of Snyder, with some really powerful shots and presentation, and for once using his slow motion obsession for good, not evil.

Now I’m excited. Check out the full trailer below.

    2 things…

1.) Never thought I’d be excited for a Superman movie.

2.) This makes me want to go read Absolute All-Star Superman again.
