The New Powergirl Team

For those aware, the current team of Jim Palmiotti, Justin Gray, and Amanda Conner are all leaving Powergirl after issue #12. Fans of the book (who are apparently a dedicated bunch) have been speculating who the new team would be ever since the announcement, and yesterday DCU’s The Source announced who it is:

Judd Winnick (also writing the upcoming JLI book) and Sami Basri (The Shield cover artist). Here’s a note from the author:

“It is with GREAT fear and excitement that Sami and I leap into this gig. Jimmy Palmiotti, Justin Gray, and Amanda Conner have bought an amazing, fresh, and inventive rebirth to this character. Our greatest challenge will be to remain faithful to what they’ve created and also take Power Girl to a new place. As far as the course that the story will take, I’ll be uncharacteristically forthcoming : The story is tied to JUSTICE LEAGUE: GENERATION LOST. Not CHAINED to it, but tied. Power Girl has a history with the JLI that will be explored. A lot.”

Attached is the first cover of their run, issue #13. I don’t read Power Girl so I can’t really comment on it. I read the first issue and I didn’t like it, so I haven’t followed. Still don’t plan to with the upcoming lineup either. I know that fans who keep reading the book adore it though, and I also know the Big Bang Theory cast made a cameo, so it can’t be that bad, right? Well… at least not yet…

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
