Oh, come on. Like you didn’t see this coming.

Announced over at Variety, Marvel and Netflix have greenlit a full season of The Punisher starring Jon Bernthal as the vigilante Frank Castle, reprising his role from Marvel’s Daredevil. This is excellent news as anyone who has seen the second season of Daredevil can attest as Bernthal did a stellar job with the character and the show left him in a place that it was clear could be furthered into a solo series.

The solo series has also nabbed Hannibal executive producer Steve Lightfoot as the showrunner and if there’s anyone who knows who to make a dark, atmospheric and violent show (as The Punisher should be), it’s someone who worked on Hannibal. And with the tease of a certain recurring Punisher character cropping up at the end of Daredevil‘s second season, I cannot wait to see where this show is gonna go.

Hopefully Jon Bernthal gets beat the hell up even more. That’s all I can ask for, Netflix. That’s all I need.

Alice W. Castle

Sworn to protect a world that hates and fears her, Alice W. Castle is a trans femme writing about comics. All things considered, it’s going surprisingly well. Ask her about the unproduced Superman films of 1990 - 2006. She can be found on various corners of the internet, but most frequently on Twitter: @alicewcastle
