The Red Circle Returns…Again.

In a bit of pre-NYCC hype, Archie Comics has announced (another) return for their stable of super heroes following their largely unsuccessful resurrection at DC in 2008. This time, according to Archie co-chief executive officer Jon Goldwater, an “Incredibles-esque” approach will be taken that sees the original Red Circle characters close to retirement when a mysterious villain begins targeting them, forcing their sons, daughters, wards and general descendents to bands together and save the day. If this very concept seems familiar to any of you, that’s because it probably should.

However, the catch to this particular rebirth is that Archie plans to release the adventures of these New Crusaders entirely digitally, marking (to my knowledge) the first time a major comic publisher has directed an entire publishing arm towards digital distribution.

Check back later this week as we follow this story and other breaking news as we build-up to New York Comic-Con.
