Have you been reading Image’s The Intrepids, a book from writer Kurtis Wiebe and artist Scott Kowalchuk that jumped off the shelves and became one of our favorite mini-series of the year? This book is loved by many of us at MC, as our own Josh Mocle said in this week’s edition of Comics Should Be Cheap that The Intrepids is “the closest thing to a Golden Age classic that I’ve seen released in my lifetime. This book oozes Eisner-esque plot quirks and art and is a damn fun ride to be on.”
Tomorrow, the last issue of the first volume arrives, and it is unknown if or when a second volume will be coming. Do you know what you should do? Go out, buy the sixth issue (and the previous five if you have not yet) and vote with your money to convince Wiebe and Kowalchuk that we need another volume of this book. And why wouldn’t you buy it? Where else will you find a book that features mad scientists and cyber-bears?
Nowhere, that’s where.
Look for a review, an interview with Kowalchuk and an art feature on him as well tomorrow, as we celebrate the completion of this excellent book.
