Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at rundown@multiversitycomics.com.
In news that is actually incapable of shocking you, The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that the screenwriters for this weekend’s Deadpool are writing a sequel. Next you’re going to tell me there’s going to be another Batman or another Green Lantern. Okay not that last one. (Snark aside, I’m really glad that Reynolds and co. fought to get Deadpool made into an R-Rated comedy. If this movie is actually good, it’ll make the pain caused by Wolverine Origins worth it.)
– Remember how The CW is making an Archie show called Riverdale? According to Deadline, they’ve got their Betty and Jughead. Everyone’s favorite girl-next-door will be played by Lili Reinhart, star of Surviving Jack while Jughead will be played by Cole Sprouse, Suite Life star and my best friend.
– We’re entering the sixth month of me living in a world without Hannibal, but a new hope has arrived. Sorry, wrong franchise. Hannibal and Pushing Daisies showrunner Bryan Fuller is in charge of the new Star Trek show on CBS’s “All-Access” streaming system. `
– Ahead of DC’s upcoming “Rebirth” initiative (whatever that turns out to be), “Flash” co-writer Van Jensen announced on Twitter that he will be stepping away from DC to work on his own projects. We wish him the best for whatever new stories he has in store.
– Josh Brolin went on The Nerdist to say he hated filming Jonah Hex and I found a headline more obvious than “Deadpool is getting a sequel.”
