– IDW and Paramount Consumer Products have unveiled Star Trek‘s first ever comic book crossover event, ‘Star Trek: Day of Blood,’ written by Jackson Lanzing, Collin Kelly, and Christopher Cantwell, with art by Mike Feehan. The event is set to launch in IDW’s “Star Trek: Day of Blood Free Comic Book Day Special,” and continue in July’s “Star Trek: Day of Blood” one-shot. It will then run through the main “Star Trek” series and the recently announced “Star Trek: Defiant,” launching in March. “Star Trek: Day of Blood Free Comic Book Day Special” will be released on May 6, 2023.

– Via Newsarama, DC have revealed a new superhero, Circuit Breaker, will make their debut in “Lazarus Planet: Dark Fate” #1. Circuit Breaker (Jules Jourdain) will be a champion of the Still Force, “a cosmic force based on entropy and inertia giving users the ability to negate motion, it’s the opposite of the Speed Force.” Jourdain is also a non-binary, transmasculine hero, whose pronouns are he/they. “Lazarus Planet: Dark Fate” #1 will be available February 14, 2023.

– Marvel have announced ‘Captain America: Cold War,’ a crossover event for the Captain America titles, will begin in April. Things will kick off in “Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty” #11 by Collin Kelly, Jackson Lanzing and Carmen Carnero, which sets the stage for “Captain America: Cold War Alpha” #1 by Collin Kelly, Jackson Lanzing, Tochi Onyebuchi and Carlos Magno. The story then continues in “Captain America: Symbol of Truth” #12 from Tochi Onyebuchi and R.B. Silva. Marvel describes the event as “an espionage-fueled action thriller, [that] will pay off various plot threads that have building up in the pages of both acclaimed titles.” ‘Cold War’ begins in April.

– Via Major Spoilers, Archie Comics have announced “Betty and Veronica Friends Forever: Rock ‘n’ Roll,” by writer/artist Holly G. When Betty and Veronica quit the Archies, they form a new band called Rock Candi. Together with the band’s new drummer, Jola Kitt, Rock Candi will give the Archies some competition. “Betty and Veronica Friends Forever: Rock ‘n’ Roll” will be available on March 8, 2023.

– Via Popverse, AfterShock Comics filed an emergency motion dated December 21, just a day after filing for bankruptcy, asking for interim authorization to use existing cash collateral to maintain day-to-day operations. In a separate emergency motion filed the same day, AfterShock asked the court’s permission to authorize the use of funds to pay ‘pre-petition’ wages to its employees. The court set a hearing for today, January 12, 2023.

– The nominations for the 2023 SAG Awards were announced: included were Wednesday‘s Jenna Ortega for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever‘s Angela Bassett for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role. Earning nods for Stunt Performance in both movies and TV were The Batman, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Andor, The Boys, and Stranger Things. The 2023 SAG Awards will air on Netflix’s YouTube channel on Sunday, Feb. 26, at Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles.

– The nominations for the WGA Awards were also announced: Andor scored a nod for Drama Series, while Tuca & Bertie was nominated for Animation. Winners will be announced at the Writers Guild Awards ceremony taking place Sunday, March 5, 2023.
