– We all knew that the events of “DC Universe Rebirth” #1 would come back into play eventually, and that it was likely that Batman and the Flash would be the characters to directly deal with it. Well, DC confirmed that today, announcing “The Button,” a four-part crossover in April between “Batman” by Tom King and Jason Fabok and “The Flash” from Joshua Williamson and Howard Porter. The titular button is the smiley face button, splattered with blood, from “Watchmen,” and which Batman found in the Bat-cave in the aforementioned “DC Universe Rebirth” #1.

The Defenders has been confirmed for a summer debut on Netflix in a feature in Entertainment Weekly, which also featured the first team photos. The magazine also gave the first details on Sigourney Weaver’s role as the main villain of the miniseries.

– DC has been using social media to draw attention to a few of its films that are a little further away from release. First up is Green Lantern Corps, which will work off of a script by David S. Goyer and Justin Rhodes. Goyer, of course, was one of the writers on the Christopher Nolan Bat-trilogy, as well as the Zack Snyder Superman films. The film is being billed as “Lethal Weapon in space,” and will feature both Hal Jordan and John Stewart. John Stewart who, by the by, Sterling K. Brown wants to play. Make that happen, DC!

Also today, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson took a meeting at DC, regarding his role as Black Adam in Shazam. Also today, Ben Affleck made a plea for a better Bat-suit.

– Garth Ennis is launching a new series at Aftershock, called “Jimmy’s Bastards.” No artist has been announced yet, but it appears to be evoking James Bond purposely.

– So…Fox might have just announced the next X-Men film will be called X-Men: Supernova. I hope they license the Liz Phair song of the same name for the closing credits.

– “Scooby Apocalypse” #10 is both changing its content and its artist – perhaps because previously solicited artist Howard Porter is jumping over to “The Flash” for the aforementioned “The Button” crossover. Chris Batista and Rob Hunter are joining Porter on the book, so be prepared for a disjointed looking issue.

– Fred Van Lente and Cary Nord are doing a 48 page Valiant one-shot, called “Immortal Brothers: The Tale of the Green Knight” #1.

– This is a weird update to the Y-The Last Man TV series, but before a script is in hand, they expect to adapt the full scope of the series.

– Supposedly, Disney/Lucasfilm is negotiating with the estate of Carrie Fisher to figure out exactly how to resolve her absence from Episode IX.

– Another day, another absolutely unnecessary teaser for “The Secret Empire.” That said, Marvel? If you want us to run the same image with another word or two surrounding it tomorrow, we’re game.

– Marvel is going to be publishing a Rogue One adaptation that will feature certain cut scenes left out of the film.

– Will Eisner’s the Spirit will be crossing over with the “Dick Tracy” newspaper strip for what seems like a really odd, but inspiring, pairing.

– And, finally, Dr. Doom is no longer the most evil person associated with Marvel Comics.
