In case you missed it, the “Man-Eaters” creative team have reunited for a new Dark Horse miniseries titled “Spy Island,” and Marvel announced three new series spinning out of March’s ‘Outlawed’ one-shot.

'Essential Judge Dredd: America'

2000 AD announced “Essential Judge Dredd,” a new line of graphic novels that curates the greatest Judge Dredd stories from the character’s long history. The first graphic novel, “Essential Judge Dredd: America” will collect the eponymous story written by John Wagner with art by Alan Grant, with newly colored pages by “Watchmen” colorist John Higgins in September for $25. This will be followed up with “Essential Judge Dredd: Origins” in November.

Kathleen Wisneski announced her promotion to associate editor at Marvel Comics on Twitter. Wisneski is currently working on “Amazing Mary Jane,” and “Miles Morales: Spider-Man.”

– In television and movie news, The Hollywood Reporter wrote that Brian K. Vaughan and Tony Harris’s “Ex Machina” will be adapted for film by Seberg writers Anna Waterhouse and Joe Shrapnel at Legendary Entertainment. The adaptation will be entitled The Great Machine. Vaughan is attached as a producer to the project. The Eisner-winning comic book, which debuted in 2004, was published by Vertigo Comics and ran for 50 issues.

From Monsters and Critics, Resident Alien, a television adaptation of the Dark Horse comic book series, will get a summer 2020 release on Syfy. The site offers a first look of the show starring Alan Tudyk. The original series was created by Peter Hogan and Steve Parkhouse.

Comicbook.com reports that My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising will debut in North America on February 26th. The film is the second movie installment for the popular anime series. In a press release from Funimation, the distributor writes, “The number one hero anime is back in theaters for a battle beyond anything fans have ever seen! Class 1-A visits Nabu Island where they finally get to do some real hero work. The place is so peaceful that it’s more like a vacation … until they’re attacked by a villain with an unfathomable Quirk! His power is eerily familiar, and it looks like Shigaraki had a hand in the plan. But with All Might retired and citizens’ lives on the line, there’s no time for questions. Deku and his friends are the next generation of heroes, and they’re the island’s only hope.” Ticket pre-orders for screenings will open on January 30th.

Billboard reported on the all-female artists soundtrack for the film Birds of Prey. The fifteen-track album includes songs by Halsey, Doja Cat, Adona, and Summer Walker. The album is available for pre-order now with a February 7th release date in conjunction with the film’s theatrical release. You can watch the video for the first single from the album, Megan Thee Stallion and Normani’s “Diamonds,” right now here.

Comicbook.com writes that Joaquin Phoenix won the Best Actor award from the Hollywood Critics Association for his role as Arthur Fleck in the film Joker. The award follows Phoenix’s Best Actor win at the Golden Globes, as awards season continues into the Academy Awards. Joker composer Hildur Guðnadóttir also won Best Score, while Avengers: Endgame received Best Blockbuster and Best Visual Effects, and Rosa Salazar earned Best Animated or VFX Performance for Alita: Battle Angel.

– Meanwhile, at the Critics’ Choice Awards, Regina King and Jean Smart respectively won Best Actress in a Drama Series, and Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, for their performances on HBO’s Watchmen. Phoenix won Best Actor, while Avengers: Endgame was named Best Action Movie. You can read the full list of winners at Sky News.
