– Disney and Lucasfilm respond to fan speculation of the potential use of CGI Leia in Star Wars Episode IX. Carrie Fisher passed away on December 27, 2016 at 60. “Carrie Fisher was, is, and always will be a part of the Lucasfilm family,” the statement said. “She was our princess, our general, and more importantly, our friend. We are still hurting from her loss. We cherish her memory and legacy as Princess Leia, and will always strive to honor everything she gave to Star Wars.” Rogue One: A Star Wars Story got attention for including a CG Peter Cushing and Carrie Fisher.

– The “March” Trilogy of graphic novels by Representative John Lewis, Andrew Aydin, and Nate Powell sold out at Amazon a 106,700% increase in sales following a tweet-storm by the President Elect Donald Trump. Various comic shops are also are reporting a selling out of the “March” Trilogy. The books in “March” have won several Eisners and a National Book Award.

– “Love is Love”, the benefit anthology for the victims of the Pulse Nightclub, topped December sales.

– Marvel revealed the final teaser for “Secret Empire,” showing the heroes who will stand with Steve Rogers during the event.

-As part of their 25th year celebration, Image Comics have announced 15 variant covers that homage classic Image series. 11 have been revealed so far, with the remaining to be revealed in the lead up to “Image Day.” These will start appearing in February.

– Dr. Strange will be getting a stand in for his part in Avengers: Infinity War. I’m hoping it’s Dr. Voodoo or the less known but still medically certified, Dr. Acula.

– Cable is set to have more streamlined and less complicated (possibly less-Cyclops related) backstory in the upcoming Deadpool sequel.

– Speaking of, amidst Oscar rumors, Deadpool has released a “For Your Consideration” piece.

– Ben Affleck suggests that the upcoming Justice League movie will be “lighter” than the previous Man of Steel, Batman v Superman, and Suicide Squad. Further suggesting a “rebirth” of the DCEU as a result.

– The upcoming DC TV series Powerless, which follows a Public Protection R&D division within Wayne Industries, has released a new clip highlighting the connection of a member of the cast with Bruce Wayne

– On the Defenders’ front, Jeph Loeb discussed the connection of the upcoming Netflix series with the wider MCU. The cast of The Defenders also offer a few insights into the team dynamic, highlighting how Matt Murdoch and Jessica Jones will interact.
