Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at rundown@multiversitycomics.com.

– DC Comics writer, Lilah Sturges has come out as transgender. While there are more and more LGBT characters in comics now than ever before, the number of openly LGBT writers and artists and creators working in the comic industry is still small, especially at mainstream companies like Marvel and DC. Lilah’s announcement is a huge step forward, and will hopefully encourage others in similar situations. Sturges has contributed to “Justice Society of America,” “Jack of Fables,” and “House of Mystery.”

– Hail to the Chief! Marvel Comics’ publisher Dan Buckley has been promoted to the role of president of Marvel Entertainment. He will now oversee Marvel’s various divisions ranging from publishing to animation, games, global brand management, television, and digital efforts.

– DC Comics has announced details about its two “top secret” Free Comic Book Day. The company originally solicited the books as “a special, Top Secret project too big to announce!” And in other Free Comic Book Day news, Marvel has also announced its FCBD titles.

– A new video series has been announced by Marvel that will combine comic books, animation, and music while exploring the world of Carol Danvers. Episodes of Captain Marvel: Alien Nation will be released to coincide with each issue of “The Mighty Captain Marvel.”

– Vertigo editor Ellie Pyle has stepped down from her position with DC Comics and will be joining on as senior editor at Riot Games, publisher of League of Legends.

– The movie still doesn’t have a title and it’s not going to be released for almost two years, but Miles Morales has officially been confirmed as the lead in Sony Pictures new animated Spider-Man movie.

– While it was noted yesterday that most of DC’s Rebirths titles were going to see a price increase from $2.99 to $3.99 this April, DC Comics has issued another statement noting that the price for individual isses of the affected series will remain $2.99 for digital editions.

– Warner Brothers is currently in negotiations for the film rights to Hajime Isayama’s “Attack on Titan.”

12 million graphic novels were sold in bookstores in 2016. While many, many, many other genres of books suffered declines in sales, graphic novel sales went up 11% from 2015.

– And last but not least, an insanely huge pay-what-you-want Image Comics bundle at Humble Bundle.
