— Publishers Weekly shared a cover reveal for “Friends Forever” by Shannon Hale and LeUyen Pham, the final graphic memoir in the trilogy that includes “Real Friends” and “Best Friends.” Created for children age 10 to 14, it deals with the subject of depression. It will be available from First Second on August 31, 2021.
— Marvel is asking fans to vote for the final member of the X-Men team of the Krakoan era, beginning today, January 27, until February 2, 2021. Nominees include Banshee, Polaris, Forge, Boom-Boom, Tempo, Cannonball, Sunspot, Strong Guy, Marrow, and Armor. Results of the election will be revealed during the ‘Hellfire Gala’ event this June. Marvel Insiders who participate will also be entered into a special sweepstakes for a chance to attend ‘Hellfire Gala’ by being drawn into a Marvel comic book. More details are available here.
— UK publisher Myriad Editions revealed their lineup for 2021. It includes “Coma” by Zara Slattery, “The Chagos Betrayal: How Britain Robbed an Island and Made Its People Disappear” by Florian Grosset, “The Roles We Play” by Sabba Khan, “Hamid & Shakespeare” by Majid Adin, “Putin and Russia: The Rise of a Dictator” by Darryl Cunningham, and “Cyberman” by Veronika Muchitsch.
— Dark Horse will release “God of War: Fallen God” #1 on March 10, 2021, according to a press release. The first issue of four was previously scheduled to release in 2020. Written by Chris Roberson and illustrated by Tony Parker, along with colorist Dan Jackson, letterer John Roshell, and with covers by Dave Rapoza, “God of War: Fallen God” takes place shortly after the events of God of War III.
— Spider-Man: Miles Morales received five nominations at the 2021 DICE Awards, including Action Game of the Year. The awards will be held virtually by the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences on April 8, 2021.
— Marvel revealed the runtime for Black Widow will be two hours and 13 minutes. It is currently scheduled to be in theaters beginning May 7, 2021, a year after its originally intended release.
— Finally, Australian animator and storyboard artist Ron Campbell died on Saturday, January 22, aged 81. Campbell was best known for directing episodes of The Beatles cartoon as well as for working on Yellow Submarine, but his credits also included The Smurfs, The Jetsons, Scooby-Doo, Rugrats, Duckman, DuckTales, and Men in Black: The Series. He is survived by his wife Engelina.
