The book will feature colors by Juha Veltti, Jacob Phillips, and Lee Loughridge as well as letters from Aditya Bidikar and Taylor Esposito. “Dandelion” is set in a world where climate change and automation have thrown millions of lives into disarray, and a new civilization in the sky threatens the wealthy hoarders of Earth’s most precious resources. It will be released in bookstores on June 11, and available in comic book stores on June 12, 2024.
– Via AIPT, Oni Press have announced “I Felt Myself Slipping,” a new YA graphic novel by cartoonist Ray Nadine (“Light Carries On”). The book follows Riley Glass, an aspiring Olympic gymnast whose father just died in a car crash. Riley moves to Stephon, Illinois and meets Kota. Together, they make it to a U.S. Classic gymnastics event, where their friendship is put to the test. “I Felt Myself Slipping” will be available in stores on September 11, 2024.
– AIPT also reports that Rob Liefeld will no longer write or illustrate Deadpool after his next story with the character. Liefeld said “I’ll be 57 at the end of this and my eyes are still functioning, the work continues to be strong, I want to go out with the best effort I can muster.” You can read his announcement via Twitter. Liefeld created Deadpool with writer Fabian Nicieza in 1991. Over the past few years, Liefeld’s Deadpool has been featured on many variant covers. Liefeld’s final Deadpool project is due to be released in summer 2024.
– Via Comic-Watch, Louis Southard (“Midnight Western Theatre”) announced, in a press release, “Comics Are Dying: The Comic.” The book is written and curated by Southard, who’s teaming up with 100 artists to create the 100-page anthology, which explores the history of the industry supposedly dying. Illustrator Sean Peacock provided the cover for the volume, while Mark Waid penned the book’s foreword. In the press release, Southard said “I was incensed and motivated at the end of 2023 following me witnessing bullies, fanatics, and con men abusing this industry online and in real life.” The book currently doesn’t have a publisher, and Southard said if one is not found, then the book would be made public online for free. You can see the first five pages here.

Joe/Transformers line-up, each release includes two 3-inch figures, two classic comic books, and a comic book stand in a single blister pack. The first wave of figures include Cobra Commander with Crimson Guard, and Duke with Snake Eyes in the G.I. Joe packs, and Optimus Prime with Megatron, and Bumblebee with Wheeljack on the Transformers’ side. Each set is $16.99, with cases of six available for collectors.
– Via The Beat, over the last week, a number of comic artists have announced they are no longer affiliated with Cadence Comic Art. There has been little in the way of public comment from the company as the mass exodus continues, with some comments pointing to unsatisfied customers complaining about unfulfilled orders and a lack of communication from the company. Another outlet said it had to do with former Cadence employee Andrew Christman leaving the company on January 29 and trying to tie up loose ends. Cadence is run by art dealer Paolo Belfiore, who up until now, has been relatively well-regarded in the industry. You can see the growing list of artists who have left Cadence here.
