– Netflix and Marvel’s final Defender, Iron Fist, receives his first official trailer today. It’s filled with intrigue and action as it teases a plot encompassing Danny Rand’s time in K’un-Lun, his family’s vacated company Rand Enterprises, and the mysterious workings of Madame Gao. Iron Fist debuts next month.
– Battlestar Galactica star Richard Hatch lost a battle with pancreatic cancer yesterday. He was best known for his role as Apollo on the original Battlestar Galactica, as well as Tom Zarek on the reboot, but also was the author of five novels based on the property. He was 71 years old.
– Marvel Entertainment and Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media is launching a new promotional campaign entitled Marvel Heroes Come in All Sizes. The launch will include the roll-out of new toys from several of the company’s partners, in-store signage, events, and special offers from popular retailers, and new media ranging from the Doctor Strange DVD to a new Guardians of the Galaxy video game.
– Jennifer Connelly has joined the cast of the James Cameron produced, and Robert Rodriguez directed Alita: Battle Angel. She will play a villain in the manga adaptation alongside other confirmed castings, Christoph Waltz, Mahershala Ali, and Ed Skrein.
– Valiant has announced that the all-new “X-O Manowar” #1 will be released in the brand new Valiant Premium Format. The features of this format include deluxe matte finish cover stock covers, upgraded, heavyweight interior pages, an oversized, 34-page first chapter, and minimal advertisements for an uninterrupted storytelling experience. Fans can expect to see this format implemented for every issue of “X-O Manowar” in 2017 and beyond.
– Wyath Yates will take over art duties on Lion Forge’s “The Castoffs” from debuting artist Molly Ostertag. Yates will draw the second arc for continuing series writers Brian Smith and MK Reed.
