In case you missed it, DC will return to ‘Future State’ in “Future State: Gotham,” while Image announced “Made in Korea.”

– Singer/rapper Machine Gun Kelly is teaming up with Z2 Comics for his first graphic novel, “Hotel Diablo.” Co-written with Eliot Rahal and Ryan Cady, and based on MGK’s 2019 album of the same name, “Hotel Diablo” will be a horror anthology about a waystation between Heaven and Hell, “where your deeds in life are the keys to your eternity in the afterlife — at the Hotel Diablo. And it’s Lidia Lopez’s first night behind the front desk! Every guest’s got a story to tell and a lesson to learn…” The book will feature art by Martin Morrazo, Victor Ibañez, Nelson Blake II, Amilcar Pinna, Rachel Smartt, and Roberta Ingranata, and will be released in July.
– During Super Bowl LIV, Universal aired the first TV spot for Old, the latest M. Night Shyamalan film, based on the graphic novel “Sandcastle” by Pierre Oscar Levy and Frederik Peeters. Starring Gael García Bernal, Vicky Krieps, Alex Wolff, and Thomasin McKenzie, the thriller follows a family who begin to age rapidly while vacationing at a secluded beach. – Marvel announced another ‘Heroes Reborn’ one-shot for May, “Heroes Reborn: Siege Society,” written by Cody Ziglar with art by Paco Medina. The comic will introduce the new reality’s version of the Masters of Evil/Thunderbolts, consisting of Baron Zemo, Natasha Romanov, Clint Barton, Scott Lang, and Victor Creed. Their target: the European Squadron Supreme, led by Nighthawk.
– Syfy announced the final six episodes of Wynonna Earp season 4 will be the show’s last on the network. Showrunner Emily Andras thanked fans, and expressed hope the show may continue on another platform, stating, “I have been honored to tell Wynonna and her family’s story, and along with Seven24, Cineflix and CTV Sci-Fi, are hopeful we can continue to share their inspiring tales in the future.” Wynonna Earp season 4 resumes Friday, March 5, and will conclude on April 9.
– Per The Hollywood Reporter, WGA Award-winning writer Stacy Osei-Kuffour (Watchmen, Pen15) will pen Marvel Studios’ Blade reboot. She will be the first Black woman to write a Marvel movie. The film, starring Mahershala Ali, does not currently have a release date, and has apparently been retitled Blade, the Vampire Hunter.
– Scout Comics announced Michael Lagace and Todor Hristov’s graphic novel “The Forever Maps” has been optioned for a film by Lit Entertainment (Raised by Wolves). The screenplay will be penned by 10 Cloverfield Lane writers Josh Campbell and Matthew Stuecken. Published in January, “Forever Maps” tells the story of an 18th century man who discovers he may be immortal, and who must subsequently choose between his family, or to live forever without them.
– Disney announced a new line of spooky chapter books at Abrams imprint Amulet Books, called Disney Spookyzone. The first book, Duckscares: The Nightmare Formula, was written by Tommy Greenwald (the Charlie Joe Jackson series), and illustrated by Elisa Ferrari, whose art style is a noticeable departure from the classic Disney house style. Duckscares will be released on May 4, and you can read the preview here.
– Angolan newspaper cartoonist Sérgio Piçarra was awarded the Franco-German Prize for Human Rights and the Rule of Law. Piçarra, who has been active since 1990, is the first Angolan to receive the prize. You can view a slideshow of all of this year’s recipients for the award (in English) here.
– Actor Nhut Le (Raven’s Home) will play Judomaster on HBO Max’s Peacemaker series; YouTuber Comicstorian is making his print debut with a back-up story in March’s “Bloodshot” #12; and the Toronto Comics Arts Festival confirmed this year’s event will be held virtually over May 8-15.
– Finally, legendary Canadian actor Christopher Plummer died on Friday, February 5, aged 91, following an accident at his home in Weston, Connecticut. The Toronto-born star of The Sound of Music, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, All the Money in the World, and Knives Out, lent his voice to several films from Canadian publisher/animation company Arcana Studio, and also portrayed General Chang in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country; Charles Muntz in Up; and Arngeir in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Elaine Taylor, and his daughter from his first marriage, actress Amanda Plummer.
