Warner Bros. reportedly asked Ben Affleck to postpone all non-DC projects before he left as director for The Batman. According to a story from Forbes, Affleck was asked to delay the recently released Live By Night to focus on Justice League, The Batman, and other unspecified DC films. Affleck was attached to star and direct Live By Night in 2012 with plans to film in 2013. However in 2013 Affleck was announced to play Batman in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, which pushed back by 18 months.

– Further news relating to The Batman involves a shortlist of potential writers and directors to rework the DC comics film after Affleck’s departure as director. Despite earlier news of rewrites to the original script by Affleck and Geoff Johns, WB is reportedly open to having a full rewrite of the script done once the have a new director attached to the film. The shortlist includes Matt Reeves of War of The Planet of The Apes, Gavin O’Connor of The Accountant, Denis Villeneuve of Arrival, Matt Ross of Captain Fantastic, and George Miller of Mad Max: Fury Road fame.

– Nicholas Windhig Refn and Ed Brubaker join forces for Too Old To Die Young. Amazon has hired the Only God Forgives and Drive director to create the new crime drama for their streaming service. The show will cover the criminal underworld of Los Angeles and will feature Brubaker as Refn’s co-writer/co-producer on the series.

– The largest Will Eisner exhibit in US history will be opening just in time for his 100th Birthday. The exhibit is being created by the Society of Illustrators and will open in New York City between March 1st and June 3rd. The gallery will show off a collection of Eisner’s various works to the public and will span two floors.

– Greg Weisman prepares to bring the most successful action figure Kickstarter in history to comics in “Mythic Legions: Book 1.” Weisman has partnered with Four Horseman Studios to create a 48 comic/art book set to be released this March.

– Fox’s mysterious X-men television show finds its first mutant in the form of Native American actor Blair Redford. Redford is signed on to play a mutant named Sam who leads an underground mutant network. Though showrunner Matt Nix hasn’t officially said anything, the name Sam could possibly refer to long time X-men and Avenger Sam Guthree aka Cannonball. The untitled show is currently in production for an undisclosed release date.

– Marvel’s Inhumans is currently in production with the working title Project Next. The base of operations for the ABC/Marvel television project will be a 37,000 acre former Hawaiian Naval facility on the island Kalaeloa. Along with new jobs, the production is expected to bring between 80 to 100 million dollars into the local economy, placing Inhumans on par with other Hawaii based shows like Lost and Hawaii Five-0.

– A Los Angeles tech startup called Comic Blitz wants to become the Netflix of comics. They are currently offering unlimited access to a library of over 5,000 issues and 750 titles from various independent publishers including, Top Cow, Valiant, and IDW among others. The startup is looking for investors who for a minimum of $250 will receive a year long subscription. An investment of $1000 will award you with a lifetime subscription and a $25,000 investment will get you a 15 minute phone call with comic legend Mark Waid.

– Joe Casey and Damion Scott team up for Catalyst Prime’s “Accell.” The second ongoing series in Lion Forge Comics’ Catalyst Prime imprint puts the two with a creative team that includes inker Robert Campanella, colorist John Rauch and letterer Janice Chiang. The comic is set to debut in June.

– The US ski team will sport gear inspired by Marvel superheroes at the FIS Alpine World Cup Championship in St. Moritz. The US team’s race suits will be outfitted to look like Captain America and Captain Marvel’s iconic uniforms. The athletes who will wear the suits include World Cup skier Jared Goldberg, Four time Olympic medalist Julio Mancuso, and Olympic gold medalist Mikaela Shiffrin.
