In case you missed it, DC announced “Dark Crisis,” and Hellboy will travel to Greece in “Hellboy and the B.P.R.D.: Night of the Cyclops.”

Anne D. Bernstein

– Anne D. Bernstein, the writer/cartoonist/comedy writer known for her work on Daria and “Drawn and Quarterly,” passed away on Tuesday after an extended bout of illness. Bernstein drew the cover for the first issue of “Drawn and Quarterly,” and would go on to be the founding senior editor and comics editor of Nickelodeon Magazine. She was head writer for MTV’s animation department, writing eight episodes of Daria and the tie-in book The Daria Diaries.

– Scout Comics’s “By The Horns” is returning with a new maxi-series titled “By The Horns: Dark Earth,” set six months after “By The Horns” #8. Writer Markisan Naso and artist Jason Muhr return to handle creative duties for the series, with Steve Canon joining as colorist. The story picks up after “By The Horns” #8 with Elodie, Sajen and Evelyn living as farmers, when a mysterious blight takes hold of the continent of Solothus.

– Jeffrey Brown’s graphic memoirs have been assembled in a 608-page softcover omnibus by Top Shelf. “Loved and Lost: A Relationship Trilogy” will contain “Clumsy,” “Unlikely,” and “An Easy Intimacy” (a.k.a. “AEIOU”). The collected edition drops in May of this year, in time for “Clumsy’s” 20th anniversary.

– Top Cow and EP1T0ME are bringing ”Colossus” by The Clay Pigeons to comic shops, and offering fans a free 20+ page preview book. “The Clay People: Colossus” adapts the song by Albany, NY band The Clay Pigeons into a one-shot, due out March 16. “A biracial boy in the Midwest uses a supernatural gift from his grandfather to push back against two older boys who are terrorizing him,” explains the synopsis at the beginning of the preview. Matt Hawkins writes with Christian DiBari providing art.

– In Marvel casting news, Russell Crowe has joined the cast of J.C. Chandor’s Kraven the Hunter movie. While Crowe’s role has yet to be revealed, he will star alongside Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the title role. The film is scheduled for release on January 13, 2023. Meanwhile, Anthony Ramos (In The Heights) will have a yet-to-be revealed role in Disney+’s Ironheart alongside Dominique Thorne’s Riri Williams. No release date has been announced for the series, though it is expected after November’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

– In other Disney+ news, Obi-Wan Kenobi is set to premiere on May 25. The six-part, limited series will take place ten years after Revenge of the Sith, with Ewan McGregor reprising his role as the Jedi Master. Hayden Christensen is also set to return as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader.

– Hulu’s Woke is returning for a second season. The series, starring Lamorne Morris as Keef (inspired by real-life cartoonist Keith Knight), returns on Friday, April 8. “Cartoonist Keef Knight is now a popular activist on the rise, but he’s facing a world where ‘woke’ has become big business,” the season two synopsis says. “Can Keef and his friends bring about real change, or is it just about the dollar$? And can Keef navigate this new world without destroying what he’s become?” Hulu has also ordered twenty new episodes of Futurama. Most of the main cast are returning with the notable exception of John DiMaggio, who only promises to keep fans updated. Production on the eighth season is set to begin this month, premiering sometime in 2023.

– Telltale has released a trailer for The Wolf Among Us 2, which confirms the game will be released next year. Based on Bill Willingham and Mark Buckingham’s “Fables” comics, The Wolf Among Us 2 follows private investigator Bigby Wolf six months after the events of the first game. The reveal was part of a live stream hosted by the Game Awards’ Geoff Keighley.

– The Thought Bubble Comic Art Festival has announced its dates and first guests. The UK’s largest comic convention will run from November 12-13, 2022. It will feature Gail Simone, G. Willow Wilson, Christian Ward, Rafael Albuquerque, and Magdalene Visaggio among others. Ian Kennedy was scheduled as the guest of honor at the festival, though this was before his passing on Monday. Full programming schedules and guest lists will be available on Thought Bubble’s website.

– Finally, Greg Smallwood has criticized Marvel for altering his artwork in issue #2 of “Elektra: Black, White, & Blood.” The alterations in question were to the eyes of Asian characters. “They’re not huge changes,” Smallwood said, “but I really don’t like my art being tampered with.” Smallwood claims the edits were requested two months after he submitted the art, with his editors asking him to make changes “within tolerance for best representation of Asian characters,” though some like artist Jen Bartel claim the changes “look uncomfortably close to a series of racial stereotypes.” Smallwood reportedly had submitted his own revisions, working around the birth of his second child, though Marvel reportedly used the alterations made internally by the bullpen against his wishes. Editor David Lewis apologized on Twitter for an “email miscommunication” (a phrase Smallwood criticized), and stated they will use Smallwood’s art on digital editions and any new printings and collections.
