In case you missed it, Marvel Studios confirmed Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach will star in next year’s The Fantastic Four.

– Marvel announced “Midnight Sons: Blood Hunt,” a three-part tie-in series for the crossover event, penned by current “Blade” writer Bryan Edward Hill with art by Germán Peralta (“Loki”). The comic will see the Daywalker reunite with Ghost Riders Johnny Blaze & Danny Ketch, Victoria Montesi, and other members of the Midnight Sons to fight back against the rise of the Vampire Nation. Issue #1 will be released on May 29. The series marks the return of the original name of the Midnight Sons, who had been rebranded the Midnight Suns in the 2022 miniseries published to coincide with the video game of the same name (which was well-reviewed, but proved to be a commercial disappointment.)
– The House of Ideas also announced “Strange Academy: Blood Hunt,” a three-parter by Daniel José Older and Luigi Zagaria (“Sentry,” “Midnight Suns”) starting May 8. The mini will see Strange Academy’s students embark on a quest to recover the Darkhold and use it to destroy all the vampires. “There’s just one problem… Agatha Harkness boldly transformed the Darkhold into a child in last year’s ‘Contest of Chaos!'” Older, who resides in New Orleans, the city Strange Academy is located in, said he was honored to continue Skottie Young and Humberto Ramos’s original series.
– Furthermore, Marvel revealed “Hellverine,” a four-issue series starring the merged version of Wolverine and Ghost Rider introduced in last year’s crossover ‘Weapons of Vengeance.’ Writer and co-creator Benjamin Percy will return for the mini, which will feature art by Julius Ohta (“Venom”), and find the Hellverine active once again despite Logan’s exorcism at the end of the crossover. “What event will put the Hellverine back on the streets… and is he slashing his hellfire claws for good or evil?” The book, which will also introduce the “Hellfire Warriors,” will begin on May 29.
– HarperCollins will publish “Side Quest: A Visual History of Roleplaying Games,” by Steenz (“Heart of the City”) and Samuel Sattin (“Unico: Awakening”), on October 8, 2024. The 208-page paperback book, which will retail for $18.99, will chronicle the creators’ personal history with the medium, as well as the genre’s development through the years, including a tabletop RPG created by H.G. Wells in the early 20th century. You can read an interview with Steenz and Sattin in the meantime at The Beat.
– Legendary shared a new look at “The Witches of Silverlake,” a long-gestating young adult fantasy OGN by Simon Curtis (Boy Robot) and Stephanie Son (“Sleep Terrors”). The book, first announced in 2019, follows Elliot Green, a new student at a private school, who befriends a group of witches. Unfortunately, it turns out magic is very real, as they accidentally unleash a demon that starts murdering their classmates and teachers. It will finally be released on May 14.
– Star Trek: Discovery‘s fifth and final season will premiere on Paramount+ on Thursday, April 4. The first two (of 10) episodes will drop first, with the rest arriving weekly. The final outing for Captain Michael Burnham and the USS Discovery will find the crew “on an epic adventure across the galaxy to find an ancient power whose very existence has been deliberately hidden for centuries. But there are others on the hunt as well… dangerous foes who are desperate to claim the prize for themselves, and will stop at nothing to get it.”
– Tennis star Naomi Osaka will star in and produce an anime series based on “Allure: The Evening Primrose,” a Noir Caesar Entertainment comic by Sinitus Tempo. The book follows Akane Koizumi (Osaka’s part), a rookie yakuza assassin whose abilities are enhanced by a drug provided by their employers – employers she and her team have now angered. The TV version is being written by Kenny Byerly (Big Hero 6: The Series), and co-developed with Noir Caesar and Rebel Maverick. It will mark Osaka’s acting debut.
– Director Peter Ramsey (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse) and producer Caleeb Pinkett (Cobra Kai) are developing a film based on “The Storm Clan,” a comic book created by Dallas Jackson and Joe Casey. Jackson and Casey will also write the script for the film, which follows an ex-military weapons engineer who trains and equips his five adopted children to become superhuman thieves. The comic was created at DJ Classicz Comix, a new company founded by Jackson (a filmmaker whose credits include The System), and has not been released publicly.
