– Kicking off yesterday’s news, rumored to be directing Suicide Squad 2 is none other than Passion of the Christ director and Braveheart star, Mel Gibson. Sweet Jesus. David Ayer who helmed the first film will have his hands full with the announced Gotham City Sirens starring Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn. No release date has been announced yet for either film.

– Jed Whedon, brother of Avengers director Joss Whedon, is set to make his directorial debut on the February 21st episode of Agents of SHIELD. Jed Whedon and his wife Maurissa Tancharoen have served as showrunners for the show since the beginning. This episode marks the end of the current “L.M.D.” arc, the second arc of the fourth season.

– DC is set to partner with local comic shops yet again to bring commercials to your movie theatre. Offering a 50% reimbursement on ads to shops who partner with National CineMedia, these Rebirth promotions will be :15 or :30 seconds in length.

– Lion Forge announced two more titles to be a part of their new superhero universe Catalyst Prime, “Summit” from Amy Chu and Jan Duursema. This follows the announcements of “Noble,” “Accel,” “Superb,” “K.I.N.O.,” and “Incidentals” over the past couple weeks. Catalyst Prime begins on FCBD with “Catalyst Prime: The Event.”

– The character breakdowns for the upcoming Black Lightning pilot were released today with a synopsis. The show is calling for four series regulars, Jefferson Pierce (Black Lightning), his two daughters and his ex-wife. The CW recently picked up the pilot after Fox passed on it.

In case there was any doubt, Robert Kirkman confirmed in the back of “The Walking Dead” #164 that yes in fact the character Jesus on the AMC show is also gay.

EN Publishing is bringing the world of 2000 AD to life in a tabletop board game with Judge Dredd & The Worlds of 2000 AD. The game is set to debut later this year.

-The shortlist for the Dwayne McDuffie Award for Diversity in Comics were revealed today with the winner to be announced at Long Beach Comic Con this weekend. Judges include the likes of Gail Simone and Len Wein. McDuffie is known for promoting diversity in comics through Milestone Media and was a writer on shows like Justice League and Justice League Unlimited in the 2000s. He passed away in 2011 after his 49th birthday.

– It was revealed today that Cullen Bunn will take over writing duties on “Trinity” from writer/sometimes artist Francis Manapul one issue earlier in #7 rather than #8. Newsarama specualted Manapul might be leaving the title, however, ComicVine some advanced May solitics from DC earleir this week where Manapul solicited to be pulling writing and art duties on the title in May.
