Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the weekend. Have a link to share? Email our team at rundown@multiversitycomics.com.

– “Venom” is being given an oversized issue #150 this May. The series is returning to legacy numbering, whilst also bringing back original Venom Eddie Brock. The issue will be delivered by series writer Mike Costa and guest artist Tradd Moore, with two backup stories, one by Robbie Thompson and Gerardo Sandoval and the other by David Michelinie and Ron Lim.

– Marjane Satrapi, the cartoonist behind “Persepolis,” as well as the co-director of the 2008 feature film adaptation, will be directing another graphic novel adaptation. “Radioactive: Marie & Pierre Curie: A Tale of Love and Fallout” was released in 2010, and was a National Book Award finalist. The film, currently titled Radioactive, is being scripted by Jack Thorne (who, at least at one point, was attached to write the “Sandman” screenplay as well).

– “Jonah Hex. Yosemite Sam. Martian Manhunter. Marvin the Martian. Lobo. The Road Runner. Batman. Elmer Fudd. Stay tuned” was the caption attached to four teaser images released by DC Comics today. Each cover depicts the pairing of a DC Comics character and a Looney Toons character, which presumably implies a coming crossover for the two mega-franchises.

– Marvel released a painted Alex Ross piece for something called “Generations.” The image depicts many popular legacy characters, both in their current and classic personas, such as Captain Americas Sam Wilson and Steve Rogers and Captain Marvels Carol Danvers and Mar-Vell. The image was accompanied with the words “GENERATIONS – coming Summer 2017.”

– In the not too distant future, Dark Horse will begin publishing a Mystery Science Theater 3000 comic series. How will that work, as the show involves characters riffing over bad movies? Your guess is as good as ours. [Editor’s note: I am a huge MSTie, contributed to the recent Kickstarter, own a slew of the DVDs, and I’m just as confused as everyone else. Excited, but confused – Brian]

– DC Comics has declared June 3rd, one day after her first feature film debuts at the box office, Wonder Woman day. DC, in 2016, declared September 17th Batman Day. Whether both events are one-shots of yearly occurrences remains to be seen.

– Stieg Larsson’s  “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” will be readapted into a serialized format  by Titan Comics. This comes through the lenses of creators Sylvian Runberg, Jose Homs, and Man, while receiving an all new translation from Rachel Zerner. A graphic novel series was originally released through Vertigo Comics.

– DC Comics has released the lenticular cover for “Batman” #22 in which we’re teased a return to the “Flashpoint” universe. Tom King has also confirmed through his Twitter that the plot of The Button crossover was written by Geoff Johns.

Andrea Berloff, Oscar-nominated co-writer of Straight Outta Compton, in now attached to make her directorial debut as the director of The Kitchen, based off Ollie Masters and Ming Doyle’s 2015 Vertigo miniseries about the wives of gangsters who take over the family after their husbands are sent to prison.

– Marvel Entertainment and Archie Comics are teaming up to bring readers “Marvel Comics Digest.” This will be a series of small, digest-sized collections focusing on Marvel’s most popular characters and stories. Archie has been publishing digests of their own characters for years, and are one of the most prominent comics outside of comic shops across the country. The first Marvel digest will arrive in June.

Kevin Smith is attached to direct, write and executive produce a TV show based on “Spawn” spin-off series “Sam and Twitch.”
