In case you missed it, Marvel announced Black Cat’s first ever ongoing comic series, while there’s going to be a new Hellboy one-shot in May, “Hellboy vs. Lobster Johnson: The Ring of Death.”

– IDW Publishing has announced a new series based on the popular board game Clue called “Clue: Candlestick.” The three-issue series will be written, drawn, colored, and lettered by Dash Shaw, the cartoonist behind the critically-acclaimed “Bottomless Belly Button” and “Bodyworld.” The Hollywood Reporter has an exclusive preview of the first issue, out this May.
– In a Comic Book Resources exclusive, it was announced that Gerry Duggan and Ron Garney will be replaced as the creative team for “Savage Sword of Conan” after May’s issue #5. The new creative team will consist of writer Meredith Finch and artist Luke Ross.
– Writer and Artist Michel Fiffe’s ongoing comic series “Copra” is switching publishers. The first 31 issues of the series will be reprinted across five volumes, the first of which arrives May 1st. The book’s previous publisher, Bergen Street Press, announced the trade came because the publisher was shutting down.
– Spider-Ham will take the starring role in June’s “Amazing Spider-Man Annual.” Plot details are currently unknown, but we do know the issue will feature multiple artists and will be written by Jason Latour (“Spider-Gwen”). Other cartoon characters are also slated to soon appear in mainstream comics: Tom King announced via Twitter that “Batman” #67 will be “a sequel to the award winning (so weird) Batman/Elmer Fudd crossover.” King said that, while he couldn’t explicity state who would appear in the issue, “it involves a crazy chase and a lot of beepbeeps.” “Batman” #67 is slated to release March 20th.
– BOOM! Studios announced a new oversized “Lumberjanes” one-shot entitled “Lumberjanes: Somewhere That’s Green.” The comic will be written by Seanan McGuire (“Spider-Gwen: Ghost Spider”) and illustrated by Alexa Bosy, with an extra story from cartoonist Mariana Costa (“Peritale”). – Employees of Future plc, the parent company of Newsarama, among other publications, have unionized and partnered with the Writers Guild of America. In a statement issued through their union’s Twitter account, several issues were outlined as the primary focus of the new union, including fair compensation and transparency. – Netflix has reportedly secured the rights to Greg Rucka and Leonardo Fernandez’s “The Old Guard.” The film version, directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood (Cloak & Dagger), will star Charlize Theron (Mad Max: Fury Road) and KiKi Layne (If Beale Street Could Talk) as members of a group of immortal mercenaries. Rucka is currently writing the screenplay.
– Jonny Beauchamp (Penny Dreadful) and Julia Chan (Saving Hope) have joined the cast of the CW’s Katy Keene pilot. Beauchamp will play Jorge/Ginger Lopez, a drag queen, while Chan will play Pepper Smith, a New York City it girl. The show’s title role is still uncast.
– The Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America announced the finalists for their 54th Annual Nebula Awards, and among those listed, Black Panther and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse were announced as finalists in the The Ray Bradbury Award for Outstanding Dramatic Presentation category. The winners of the Nebula Awards will be announced during the Nebula Conference, which runs from Thursday, May 16th through Sunday, May 19th.
– Finally, a new health-and-wellness campaign from Dole launches next week and features a partnership with the upcoming Captain Marvel film. The 10-week campaign titled “Powering the Hero Within” will feature Captain Marvel-branded products, share healthy new recipes, and spotlight important women in nutrition.
