– Dynamite Entertainment has announced “Project Superpower: Hero Killers,” a satirical new series about teenage superheroes trying to make their way in a world where the old heroes never retire. The series comes from “God Hates Astronauts” writer Ryan Browne and “Action Comics” artist Pete Woods. Dynamite CEO and publisher, Nick Barrucci put out a statement saying they wanted to “give them [Browne and Woods] the power to tell exactly the kind of superhero story that suits their tastes.”
– Speaking of Dynamite, Paul Cornell issued a heartfelt apology about a transphobic statement that appeared on a variant “Vampirella” cover, that was styled as a 1970’s men’s magazine. Cornell took it on the chin with class, and good for him.
– In what can only be considered good news, locally produced comics are beginning to catch on in Africa. While they’re a hard sell to traditional publishers, many creators are self-publishing and some have even discovered new ways to distribute their work.
– Fox’s untitled X-Men TV project has cast Once Upon a Time and The Hangover Part II actress Jamie Chung as Blink. This will be the second time we’ve seen Blink on screen after her brief appearance in X-Men: Days of Future Past.
– Image Comics has announced a plan to sell 1,992 boxes of twenty-five mystery comics, with 500 including the one-time-only standalone printing of “The Walking Dead: Here’s Negan” #1, for the company’s 25th birthday.
– According to a casting call released online, Star Wars Episode IX may start filming as early as this summer. CBR speculates that due to the start date, the film might be released in May 2019, unlike the first two ‘new’ Star Wars films, which got released in December, due to some delays.
– Marvel Comics has confirmed that readers will find out what words were spoken that made The Odinson unworthy in “The Unworthy Thor” #5.
– And, finally, Kevin Conroy will be returning for Injustice 2, ostensibly voicing Batman.
