In case you missed it, DC announced several new books, including the “Knight Terrors” event. We also have an exclusive preview of next week’s “Star Wars” #32.

– Marvel has released a promotional image for the upcoming “Contest of Chaos” event. The publisher offered little information about the event, other than vague mentions of “corruption” and “inner chaos.” It’s slated for Summer 2023. “Ultimates” artist Bryan Hitch provided the artwork. Summer 2023 will also see a major “Star Wars” crossover from the House of Ideas. For this crossover, Marvel only offers the tagline “First, it comes for the metal…”

– In more Marvel news, fans of the Disney+ Hawkeye series can get their chance to see Rogers: The Musical in real life. Disneyland’s California Adventure will be hosting a special, “short one-act musical” version of the fictional Broadway hit for a limited time later this summer. It will be staged at the Hyperion Theater, which has hosted condensed versions of Aladdin and Frozen in the past. It’s also next door to Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout, part of Avengers Campus at the park.

1899 and Dark creators Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese will handle the Netflix adaptation of “Something is Killing the Children.” The upcoming series is the result of both Netflix’s deal with BOOM! Studios and the streamer’s recent deal with the showrunners themselves. Odar and Friese’s five-year contract is the first ever European overall series deal in the company’s history. “Something is Killing the Children” follows Erica Slaughter, a young woman with special abilities, who helps combat the monsters terrorizing the children of Archer’s Peak.

– In other BOOM! Studios news, the publisher revealed the return of multiple series in 2023, including second arcs for new series “Damn Them All” and “Briar,” and specials for “BRZRKR” and R.L. Stine’s “Stuff of Nightmares.” The “BRZRKR” specials were previously teased at San Diego Comic-Con, though BOOM! is now hinting at “high profile talent” who will join Keanu Reeves on the title. Other announced returning series are “Fence,” “Alice Ever After,” “Wild’s End,” and “Coda.”

– Papercutz will publish Vol. 40 of long running Franco-Belgian comic series “Asterix.” With the blessing of both (series creators) Albert Uderzo and Rene Goscinny’s daughters, writer Fabcaro will take over scripting duties, joining longtime artist Didier Conrad. Fabcaro is the fourth person to write the series, succeeding Jean-Yves Ferri, who took over as its writer when Uderzo retired in 2009. The untitled 40th volume will be published on October 26.

– Oni Lion-Forge has announced a new three-issue sci-fi anthology series titled “XINO,” though Oni president & publisher, Hunter Gorinson insists the series is “definitely not an anthology – it’s more of a premonition of what’s to come.” Melissa Flores and Daniel Irizzari, Christopher Condon and Nick Cagnetti, Jordan Thomas and Shaky Kane, and “foundational Oni creator” Phil Hester are set to provide stories for the series, with Gorinson claiming they will “confront our deepest fears… and then turn them loose to do their worst.” Issue #1 is set to hit shelves on June 14.

Minari and Nope star Steve Yeun has joined the cast of Marvel’s Thunderbolts. The film is set to hit theaters on July 26, 2024. While Yeun’s role has not been revealed, he joins as cast that includes Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Sebastian Stan as the Winter Soldier, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Wyatt Russell as US Agent, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster, and Ayo Edibiri in an unnamed role.

– Finally, PlayStation’s State of Play saw the reveal of new gameplay footage, including co-op play, of Rocksteady’s Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. The new footage also shows us glimpses of the corrupted superheroes controlled by Brainiac, as well as Wonder Woman, Lex Luthor, Hack, Toyman, and Gizmo. An FAQ posted by the developers also confirmed the game will have a Battle Pass for cosmetic items like character skins and emotes, while post-launch story and additional playable character DLCs will be available at no extra cost. The game will be available May 26, 2023 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
