– Fantagraphics is continuing their “Studio Editions” series (which illuminates “the compelling, painstaking process by which great comics are created”) with volumes focused on Daniel Clowes and Ed Piskor. Graphic Policy has a first look at both new volumes, which will release in October 2019.

– The Dutch version of “Donald Duck” will soon include its first-ever lesbian characters, after a touching request from a 10 year old girl. According to Gay Star News, the girl, Fenna, asked that “Donald Duck” include some normal, loving same-sex relationships, even if just in the backgrounds. “My parents are gay and lesbian, and I think it’s important that that’s just as normal,” Gay Star News reported Fenna as saying. “But in Duck City, it’s as if they don’t exist at all.” After hearing Fenna, “Donald Duck” editors and artists redrew some backgrounds in an upcoming edition to feature a female couple on a date.

– Marvel released a cryptic, Greg Land-drawn teaser image in which Venom seems to be positioned as the Marvel Universe’s only hope against a symbiote invasion. Newsarama thinks the image is likely a plug for an upcoming “Venom” story that writer Donny Cates has teased as “the biggest Venom event of all time,” which will seemingly begin in August.

– In honor of its recent Oscar win, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is getting a big theatrical re-release that will include a number of IMAX showings. SlashFilm has a little bit more information, but if you want to catch 2018’s best animated movie in theaters one last time, your best bet is to check your local theater listings.

– In other 2018 comic movie-related news, the sequel to Jason Momoa and co.’s Aquaman has landed an official release date. According to Hollywood Reporter journalist Borys Kit, Aquaman 2 will be swimming into theaters on Dec. 16, 2022.

– In 2016 follow-up news, Will Smith will reportedly not return as Deadshot in the next Suicide Squad movie. Variety reports “scheduling was the ultimate factor and that the decision was made on amicable terms between both sides with no hard feelings.” The next film iteration of Task Force X, directed by James Gunn, is set for release Aug. 6, 2021, and is expected to begin production this fall.

Paste magazine has a first look at Frank Miller’s cover for Cursed, a young adult novel he’s illustrated by Tom Wheeler which posits what would happen if a young Lady of the Lake wielded Excalibur, instead of King Arthur. You can see the cover and read an excerpt from Cursed by clicking here.

DC Universe announced that Australian actor Joshua Orpin will be joining the Titans full-time when that series returns for season two, after a surprising guest appearance at the end of season one. Orpin will continue his role as Superboy Conner Kent, who DC Universe describes as an “angsty teenager of steel searching for purpose and the truth about his past.”

– Amazon’s The Tick series debuted its season two trailer, and Bleeding Cool’s got both the trailer and a blurb about what the Tick and Arthur will be up to now that The Terror is defeated. The Tick season two will debut April 5.

– And finally, the first full trailer for the latest X-Men movie, Dark Phoenix, was released online, and you can watch it here. Fox’s second stab at Chris Claremont, Dave Cockrum and John Byrne’s classic storyline comes out June 7.
