– Tom Taylor (writer, “Injustice,” “Superior Iron Man”) recently announced that due to travel restrictions – set in place by President Donald Trump’s proposed Muslim ban – he will not be making any appearances in the US anytime soon, starting with this weekend’s Emerald City Comicon, which he was scheduled to attend. Taylor, a native of Australia, states that his reasons for this are due to reports of interrogation, phone data downloads, social media account requests, returns and five-year travel bans and the threat of being detained. Because of issues like this, Charles Soule – both a successful writer (“Daredevil,” “Letter 44”) and lawyer – has announced on Twitter that he will offer his help to any overseas creators with any questions about the border.
– Neil Gaiman and FremantleMedia North America (FMNA) have come together on an exclusive, multi-year agreement, which began with the television adaptation of Gaiman’s novel American Gods. This agreement will allow them the first opportunity to adapt of any of his other stories, ranging from his other novels to any of his short stories.
– Issue #25 of “Old Man Logan” will feature the new creative team of Ed Brisson (“Sheltered,” “The Violent,” “Bullseye”) and Mike Deodato (“Thanos,” “Invincible Iron Man”). They will replace the current creative team of Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino. The new arc will featured Logan squaring up against the Maestro.
– Due to the announcement of a new Marvel Legends toy line for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which include Adam Warlock and Darkhawk, fan have speculated that these characters will play a role in the upcoming film. Unfortunately for them, James Gunn shot those speculations down while doing a live Q&A recently on Facebook.
– Lucasfilm applied for a trademark on ‘Star Wars: Rivals.’ We know nothing about it, but Max Palas from Star Wars Post speculates that the title could refer to a new video game or a replacement for their recent animated television series Star Wars Rebels.
– In the pages of “Action Comics,” a Clark Kent, separate from Superman, has been introduced since ‘Rebirth’ began. It’s been an ongoing mystery as to who – or what – he is. Now that mystery will take center stage as the arc titled ‘Superman Reborn’ kicks off in “Superman” #18.
– AfterShock Comics continues to expand, as they just announced that their Social Media Coordinator Lisa Wu, who has been with them since December 2015, has been promoted to Retailer & Fan Relations Manager. She will continue to run the company’s social media accounts and any interactions with retailers, which include in-store signings and other events. They’ve also hired Ashley Wyatt, former comics retailer, as Publishing Assistant.
