– Dark Horse Comics announced two new Mignolaverse collections. The first was “Monster-Sized Hellboy,” by Mike Mignola, Duncan Fegredo, Dave Stewart, and more, which will collect all of the stories from “Hellboy Omnibus Volumes 1-4” (the large majority of Hellboy’s main narrative), into a single 1500+ page edition. The second was “Hellboy and the B.P.R.D.: The Secret of Chesbro House & Others,” by writers Mike Mignola and Christopher Golden; writer/artist Olivier Vatine; artists Shawn McManus, Mark Laszlo, and Gabriel Hernandez Walta; and colorist Dave Stewart. The collection will include ‘The Secrets of Chesbro House,’ ‘Night of the Cyclops,’ ‘Old Man Whittier,’ ‘The Miser’s Gift,’ and its sequel ‘Time is a River.’ The stories involve a reality-bending ghostly version of Budapest, haunted houses, and ancient Greece. “Monster-Sized Hellboy” is scheduled for release in August, whilst “Hellboy and the B.P.R.D.: The Secret of Chesbro House & Others” will follow in September. You can see Mignola’s new artwork for “Hellboy and the B.P.R.D.: The Secret of Chesbro House & Others” here.

– Dark Horse Manga will be collecting Gou Tanabe’s manga adaptation of “H.P. Lovecraft’s The Shadow Over Innsmouth” in a single volume later this year, with Zack Davisson translating the work. The story follows a young antiquarian in 1927, who travels to the remains of a government-destroyed settlement in Innsmouth, Massachusetts, only to uncover the truth about the settlement’s past and present are “under water deeper and colder than any earthly grave!” “H.P. Lovecraft’s The Shadow Over Innsmouth” by Gou Tanabe and Zack Davisson will be available in comics shops on November 15, and book shops on November 24, 2023.

– Dark Horse also unveiled a new middle-grade fantasy graphic novel called “The Hundredth Voice” by Caitlin Like. “The Hundredth Voice” will follow Uriel Driscoll, whose family is cursed to have their incredible singing voices taken from them at the peak of their careers. Already dealing with the possibility that he cannot sing at all, Uriel is invited to attend his grandfather’s school, Aisling Academy, and discovers that there are ghosts who linger there, and terrible accidents keep happening to the students. Like described the graphic novel as “about being an artist, especially the serious resolve that feels like life or death when you’re young and told you’re gifted — that fear that you’re going to run out of time, even when you’re still a kid.” “The Hundredth Voice” has a comic shop release date of October 24, and a book shop release of October 25. A preview of the graphic novel is available here.

Hellboy: The Crooked Man‘s cast expanded with the addition of Jefferson White and Adeline Rudolph. The announcement followed hot on the heels of the reveal that Jack Kesy will play the titular hero. White is set to portray Tom Ferrell, whilst Rudolph will portray Bobbie Jo Song. Ferrell is a character who features prominently in the comic book of the same name that the film is adapting, whilst Rudolph’s character is original to the film. The film is set to be directed by Brian Taylor, with the script having been written by Mike Mignola and Christopher Golden. It it not yet known when the film will be released.

– Alongside the launch of the upcoming “Planet of the Apes” #1 on April 5, Marvel Comics is set to launch a 20th Century Studios imprint. The imprint is set to be “a special space within our comics line to go even bigger and bolder and keep building on the iconic moments from these properties that we all know and love,” C.B. Cebulski, the Editor-in-Chief of Marvel Comics, said. The imprint will also become the home of Marvel’s “Alien” and “Predator” series, starting with their respective #1 and #2 issues in April. All of the titles under the 20th Century Studios imprint will feature a distinct banner, and you can see the latest iteration of the Joshua Cassara’s “Planet of the Apes” #1 cover with the banner over at Marvel.com.

– “The Good Asian” by Pornsak Pichetshote, Alexandre Tefenkgi, Lee Loughridge, and Jeff Powell is set to be adapted into a TV series, it was reported. The adaptation comes as the result of a deal with MRC and will be produced by James Wan, Michael Clear, and Rob Hackett of Atomic Monster, as well as Will Rowbotham and Luke Maxwell of 3 Arts. Further details about those involved with the adaptation are not yet known. The Image Comics title is a noir story set in San Francisco, 1936, and chronicles a Chinese American detective, Edison Hark, tracking down a brutal killer, whilst the immigration ban looms large over Chinese American lives. A production schedule and eventual release date were not disclosed.

Clancy Brown joined the upcoming The Batman spin-off series, The Penguin, as Salvatore Maroni. The HBO Max series is set to consist of eight episodes, with Brown’s role set to be recurring. Believed to be set following the events of The Batman, The Penguin will see Colin Farrell reprise his role as Oswald Cobblepot, with the cast also welcoming newcomers such as Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Kelly, and Cristin Milioti, who will play Sofia Falcone, the daughter of Carmine (John Turturro in The Batman). The Batman‘s director and writer, Matt Reeves, is onboard the series as an executive producer, with Lauren LeFranc set to write, executive produce and also be its showrunner. Farrell is also set to be one of the series’s executive producers, whilst Craig Zobel is the only confirmed director for the series, taking the reins of three of its episodes. It is not yet known when The Penguin will debut on the platform.

– Finally, actor Tom Sizemore died on Friday, March 3, two weeks after being hospitalized with a brain aneurysm. He was 61. Sizemore, who had struggled with drug addiction since he was 15, was a respected character actor during the 1990s, appearing in films like True Romance, Heat, and Saving Private Ryan; he also guest starred as Metamorpho in a 2002 episode of Justice League, and voiced Sonny Forelli in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. In 2003, he was convicted of domestic violence, but continued to appear in major TV shows, including Lucifer and Twin Peaks, until 2017, when it was disclosed he had allegedly molested a child filming a movie in 2003. He is survived by two sons, and his younger brother, Paul.
