– “Static Team-Up: Anansi” #1 will see the DC Comics debut of Anansi. Written by Evan Narcisse with art from Charles Stewart III, the one-shot takes place between “Static: Season One” and “Static: Shadows of Dakota,” and will see the fan favorite character aiding Virgil Hawkins against the supernatural side of the Milestone Dakotaverse. Anansi originally appeared in the Static Shock animated series, voiced by Carl Lumbly. DC also announced that “Shadows of Dakota” will be receiving an extra seventh issue on top of its planned six-issue run, due out on September 5. “Static Team-Up: Anansi” #1 is due out June 6, with covers from Nikolas Draper-Ivey, Natacha Bustos, and Edwin Galmon.

– Ngozi Ukazu will write and draw the YA graphic novel “Barda” for DC. The graphic novel explores the origins of the former Female Fury, from her days serving Granny Goodness, to falling in love with Scott Free, and examines her psychology through the classic Fourth World stories. It’s due out June 2024.

– “Cosmic Detective” will be available in paperback from Image this September, releasing in comics shops on the 13th, and bookstores on the 19th. The book, written by Jeff Lemire and Matt Kindt, with art from David Rubin, follows a detective investigating the murder of a god. The comic was originally only available through the Kickstarter release. You can read our review here.

– Dark Horse’s “The Unlikely Story of Felix and Macabber” will hit bookstores on October 24th, and comics shops the following day. The 152-page graphic novel was written by award-winning letterer Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou, with Juni Ba providing art. “Felix wants to be big, brave, strong, and tough, just like Macabber, and so he decides to do whatever it takes to not be a scared little monster anymore,” the official synopsis reads. “Their unlikely journey together sees Macabber confronting his past with journey’s to visit old friends, mentors, and rivals such as the colossal flame-wielding Kilnver — a monster able to spit out an army of knights spontaneously.”

– Dark Horse has also announced a new paperback edition of “Hellsing.” The new edition features a revised translation that the publishers calls “even closer to [author Kohta Hirano’s] terrifying vision.” Volume 1 will be available in bookstores in November 7, and comics shops the following day.

– The second season of Marvel Studios’s Disney+ series What If…? will introduce Native American superhero Kahhori. The episode, written by Ryan Little in collaboration with members of the Mohawk Nation, will see the Tesseract land on Earth in the sovereign Haudenosaunee Confederacy before the colonization of America. It is unknown when What If…? season two will premiere.

– Originally slated to debut on HBO Max, Batman: Caped Crusader will now premiere on Amazon Prime Video, who have ordered two seasons. J.J. Abrams and The Batman director Matt Reeves (who previously collaborated on Felicity) executive produced the show, along with Bruce Timm, while Ed Brubaker led the writing team. The project was originally announced back in 2021.

– Finally, comiXology will debut the five-issue miniseries “Grammarton Punch” on Tuesday, March 14. The book follows high school student Van Nguyen, who possesses the ability to see, and punch, ghosts. The series sees him use his abilities to defend his classmates from the evil spirits who prey upon their energy. Miles Gunter writes with Brian Andan, Lee Loughridge and Taylor Esposito providing art, colors and letters respectively. Each issue will be available free to comiXology Unlimited subscribers and available to purchase for non-subscribers.
