In case you missed it, HaperCollins Children’s Books announced they will publish “Squire,” Christopher Sebela and Chris Visions are partnering on a new project called “Trust Fall,” Image revealed a new post-WWII crime noir “Simon Says,” “Second Coming” is getting its own second coming from AHOY, and DC Zoom is reimagining Swamp Thing in “The Secret Spiral of Swamp Kid.”
– Fans finally got a first look at the plot and art for “Diana, Princess of the Amazons,” which was initially announced last summer. The graphic novel is the first Wonder Woman title from new DC Comics imprint, DC Zoom, created to bring superhero stories to readers aged 8 to 12. It stars an 11-year old Diana Prince, as she deals with the growing pains that come with greatness.
– Artist Kendra Wells revealed on Twitter that they have partnered with Sam Maggs on a young adult graphic novel that has been acquired by Abrams Books. “Sirens of the Southern Seas” is inspired by real-life queer, female pirates, Anne Bonny and Mary Read, who lived during the 18th century. Publication is scheduled for fall 2020.
– Warner Bros. announced that it’s bringing Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy back to theaters in IMAX 70mm for Batman’s 80th birthday. Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and The Dark Knight Rises will screen back-to-back in five cities, with a special live Q&A with Nolan at the Los Angeles kickoff on March 30 that will then air at the subsequent screenings. Next on the list will be New York’s AMC Lincoln Square on April 13, following by AMC Metreon in San Francisco, Cinesphere Ontario Place in Toronto, and IMAX Theatre at the Indiana State Museum in Indianapolis later in the month. Tickets are on sale now.
– Batwoman creator Greg Berlanti revealed that the pilot for the forthcoming CW show will predate this season’s Arrowverse crossover “Elseworlds.” The pilot will act as an origin story; no word yet on whether the rest of the series will take place in the same time frame.
– The Flash is changing showrunners for season 6. In an exclusive with The Hollywood Reporter, it was revealed that Todd Helbing will step down at the end of the fifth season to focus on development. Eric Wallace, a co-executive producer since season 4, will then take over. In addition to The Flash, his credits include Teen Wolf, Z Nation and Eureka.
– HBO and Insight Editions are partnering on a four-book collection for Game of Thrones, which returns for its eighth and final season this April. The first book, Game of Thrones: The Storyboards, is available for pre-order on Amazon in advance of its May 28, 2019 release date. – Camryn Manheim (The Practice) has been cast in ABC’s Stumptown, inspired by the graphic novels published by Oni Press. Manheim will play no-nonsense Lieutenant Roberta Volk of the Portland Police Department.
