In case you missed it the urban fantasy series based on Ben Aaronovich’s “Rivers of London” novels is set to return with a new series, Laura Kinney will be going back to her old name after “All-New Wolverine” ends in a new “X-23” series, DC announced the new ”Hawkman” series spinning out of “Metal” and Chip Zdarsky signed an exclusive contract with Marvel. We also ran an obituary for the cartoonist Dick Adair, who died this week aged 82.
– Lynda Carter is receiving a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on April 3rd. Patty Jenkins, director of the Wonder Woman film, will be one of the speakers in attendance to celebrate the titular star of the 1970s Wonder Woman TV series, who recently appeared in the CW’s series Supergirl.
– Marvel Comics artist Nicole “Nik” Virella, who has worked on “All New Wolverine,” “Star Wars: Poe Dameron,” “Hyperion,” and “Return of the Living Deadpool,” was recently diagnosed with PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) and endometriosis, after years of suffering repeated incorrect evaluations. As her insurer has denied her coverage, her sister Angelique Virella set up a GoFundMe page to help with the likely $40,000 surgery bill to remedy the long-standing situation by late May or early June this year. Angelique said her sister would never ask for a “dime from anyone” so she is asking for help for her to relieve her “terrible symptoms and regain some normalcy to her life.”
– The spiritual successor to New York institution Jim Hanley’s Universe, JHU Comic Books, needs comics fans help to stay afloat. They have lost their lease after five years in their current location. The staff and owners have set up a GoFundMe page to help keep them employing their staff, provide comic service, and to fund the repairs necessary to the new location just blocks from the current one.
– Before the release of the second season of Jessica Jones, Netflix collaborated with Marvel and 13 women comics artists to create 13 pulp fiction style covers, one to go with each episode of the series. The artists involved in the project included Stephanie Hans, Jen Bartel, Erica Henderson, Audrey Mok, Joyce Chin, Colleen Doran, Kate Niemczyk, Elizabeth Torque, Jenny Frisson, Amy Reeder, Emma Lupacchino, June Brigman and Annie Wu.
– Former Austin & Ally star Ross Lynch is set to join Kiernan Shipka in the Netflix adaptation of Sabrina, based on Archie Comics’ “The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.” He would join the yet-to-be-named series as Sabrina’s love interest Harvey Kinkle in the dark fairy tale series.
