– Image Comics have announced “Klik Klik Boom,” a new five-issue miniseries written by Doug Wagner with art by Doug Dabbs, colors by Matt Wilson, and lettering by Ed Dukeshire. Described as a revenge comic, “Klik Klik Boom” follows Sprout, a mute assassin who communicates exclusively through polaroid pictures, and who’s lived with her doomsday prepping grandfather her whole life. To avenge his death, she’ll travel from rural Idaho to New York City, where she’ll either succeed or die. “Klik Klik Boom” #1 will be available at comic book shops on June 21, 2023.
– Via IGN, DC have announced “Bad Dream: A Dreamer Story,” which details the “secret origin” of the Supergirl character. Written by Dreamer actress Nicole Maines with art from Rye Hickman, this YA graphic novel focuses on Nia Nal’s relationship with her sister, Maeve. As their family’s golden child, Maeve is who everyone assumes will inherit their mother’s ability to see the future through dreams. “[W]hen Nia manifests this ability after a schoolyard accident, she runs away from home and attempts to suppress her gift.” You can read more from Maines over at IGN, where she discusses her comic book work as well as Dreamer’s appearance in The Flash‘s final season. “Bad Dream: A Dreamer Story” will debut in April 2024.
– Via The Beat, you can get a first look at Wendy Xu’s new graphic novel, “The Infinity Particle.” “The Infinity Particle” follows Clemintine Chang as she moves from Earth to Mars for her new dream job, to work under Dr. Marcella Lin, an artificial intelligence pioneer. Clem meets Dr. Lin’s assistant, Kye, a sentient robot who forces her to question her relationship with A.I. She soon finds herself determined to break him free. “The Infinity Particle” will arrive in stores in August 2023. Check out The Beat’s preview here.
– Marvel have unveiled a team-up between Spider-Man Noir and Daredevil Noir in this week’s “Spider-Verse Unlimited” #41. From creators Amy Chu, Diogenes Neves, and Antonio Fabela, the Infinity Comic sees the duo work together to stop a disaster at a massive rally in New York City. Marvel also teased the “Mystery Man” crossover that was set up in issues #38-40. You can check out “Spider-Verse Unlimited” #41 on the Marvel Unlimited app, with new chapters dropping every Tuesday.
– Via ICv2, Viz Media have announced “Betwixt: A Horror Manga Anthology.” The book, which features a cover and introduction by Junji Ito, will include six stories by both Japanese and American creators like Ryo Hanada, Aki Shimizu, Shima Shinya, Becky Cloonan and Michael Conrad, Leslie Hung and Sloane Leong, and Hua Hua Zhu. “Betwixt: A Horror Manga Anthology” will be available October 10, 2023.
– Via The Fanboy Factor, Vault have announced a new partnership with Kajabi to build Vault Unbound, the first-of-its-kind fan community and digital reading experience on the Kajabi platform. Vault Unbound will offer fan interaction with creators as well as behind-the-scenes content, first dibs on merchandise, and the ability to read some Vault favorites. – Finally, Netflix has announced that Sweet Tooth will return for season 2 on April 27, 2023. Based on the comic by Jeff Lemire, Sweet Tooth follows Gus, a human/deer hybrid, and his protector Tommy Jepperd, in a post-apocalyptic world known as the Great Crumble. Season 2 sees Gus and his fellow human-animal hybrids discover the secret of the Great Crumble’s origin.
