Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at rundown@multiversitycomics.com.

– The Black Eyed Peas are teaming with Marvel to release ‘Masters of the Sun — The Zombie Chronicles,’ an original graphic novel.  Front man will.i.am wrote the story, with artists Benjamin Jackendoff and Damion Scott. The summary sounds like it was just spit out of a focus group, “The saga begins with the city of Los Angeles under attack by aliens, while humans are morphing into zombies. The main character, Zulu-X, who also has a penchant for hip-hop, is thrust into the middle of the action-packed adventure, fighting a nefarious ancient order with the combination of wisdom and street smarts.” Imma be holding judgement until it’s released, but I gotta feeling that we can expect the same level of quality as their music.

– In a press release received via email, Oni Press announced that they are partnering with Renegade Game Studios to release a deck-building card game based on Bryan Lee O’Malley’s well-loved “Scott Pilgrim” series, called Scott Pilgrim’s Precious Little Card Game. The game will employ double sided cards to “… let you decide whether to solve your problems with hard work and empathy, or whether to embrace the unpredictable world of gratuitous video game violence.” Players will need to supply their own soundtrack. The game was created by Keith Baker and will be released summer 2017.

– Hellboy’s final adventure will be getting the deluxe hardcover treatment with the release of ‘Hellboy in Hell: Library Edition.’ The collection will be released on October 4th and will have all 10 issues of the series along with an expanded sketchbook (this reader is hoping for more of that final battle). “Hellboy and the B.P.R.D 1954” and “B.P.R.D.: Hell on Earth” will also see hardcover editions at later dates.

– Jim Mahfood is returning to comics and revisiting his creator-owned Grrl Scouts with a new series at Image called “Grrl Scouts: Magic Socks.” Mahfood is known for his work on the “Clerks” comic for Kevin Smith and some Spider-Man over at Marvel in the 90’s.

– Titan comics will release “Captain Kronos,” by Dan Abnett and Tom Mandrake, under their Hammer Horror imprint. The series is based on the 1974 supernatural cult-classic Captain Kronos Vampire Hunter. This will be the imprint’s second title, after the success of Peter Milligan and Ronilson Freire’s ‘The Mummy: Palimpsest.’ No release date has been announced.

– Not that we needed any more confirmation of how terrible Fantasic Four was, but Mads Mikkelsen revealed that he actually walked out of the audition for Reed Richards by giving them the classic break-up line, “I can’t do it. It’s not about you, I’m sorry, this is wrong.”

– After nearly three decades of requests, DC is collecting Peter David and Esteban Maroto’s “Atlantis Chronicles,” a 7-issue mini series detailing the history of Atlantis in the DC Universe.

– To make sure that Harley Quinn is in all the things, DC is putting her in the starring role of a new DC Super Hero Girls graphic novel called ‘Out Of The Bottle.’ The book will feature creators Shea Fontana and Yancey Labat.

– While not as substantial as the delays to The Batman, the Aquaman release is getting pushed back two months to December 21st, 2018 instead of October 5th. The move is most likely to capitalize on the big blue Avatar 2 sized hole that week.

– Sony has confirmed that a Venom movie is in the works, slated for a release date of October 5th, 2018. It’s reported (but not confirmed) that the film will be helmed by Amazing Spider-Man 2 writer and The Mummy director Alex Kurtzman.
