In case you missed it, we ran exclusive previews of Marvel’s “Monica Rambeau: Photon” #4, and A Wave Blue World’s “Tower” #2, both due out next week.

The updated FCBD issue cover

– At a 60th anniversary livestream for Marvel Unlimited subscribers, Marvel made several X-Men announcements, the biggest of which was that ‘Fall of X’ will begin with this year’s “Hellfire Gala” special on July 26, and that the event will lead to the return of “Uncanny Avengers,” beginning August 16. Gerry Duggan will pen both titles, with various artists on the former, and Javier Garrón on the latter. The new “Uncanny Avengers” will see Captain America, Rogue, Deadpool, Quicksilver, Psylocke, and Penance reunite to hunt down a new, evil Captain Krakoa, who is trying to start a war with the US. Prelude stories will feature in this year’s “Free Comic Book Day 2023: Avengers/X-Men,” out May 6.

Also announced were a Negasonic Teenage Warhead arc running in “Marvel’s Voices Infinity Comic” #44-49, created by Andrew Wheeler, Carola Borelli, and Brittany Peer; a six-part “unofficial X-Men” arc starring Jubilee by Grace Freud, Alberto Alburquerque, and Yen Nitro, kicking off in “X-Men Unlimited” #80 on March 27; and a real-life Hellfire Gala being held at San Diego Comic-Con in July. For more on all of these, head to Marvel.com, and D23’s Hellfire Gala page.

– DC announced print editions of their Webtoon series will be released beginning this fall. “Batman: Wayne Family Adventures” Vol. 1, collecting chapters #1-25, will be released first on August 1; followed by “Vixen: NYC” Vol. 1 (chapters #1-9) on August 15; and “Zatanna & The Ripper” Vol. 1 (#1-11) on October 3. A print edition of their fourth Webtoon comic, “Red Hood: Outlaws,” was not announced. DC launched their Webtoon collaboration with “Wayne Family Adventures” in September 2021, and have so far released 76, 44, 38, and 33 chapters of these respective weekly comics.

– GlobalComix announced they have partnered with Image, BOOM! Studios, Archie Comics and more, making their comics available on their fledgling platform. GlobalComix currently offers titles from various publishers like AWA, TKO, Papercutz, Valiant, Top Cow, Mad Cave Studios and Humanoids, paywalled or for free, in online and PDF formats. The announcement comes ahead of the release of a closed beta for the site’s iOS and Android app, which will begin sometime by the end of March.

– Dark Horse will release “Cain,” a neo-noir graphic novel by writers Walter Hill and Mike Benson, artist Beni R. Lobel, colorist Jordi Escuin Llorach, and letterer Frank Cvetkovic. The title character will be a blind assassin “with a unique ability to sense the world around him. Raised from birth by a rogue CIA agent, he’s grown into a borderline alcoholic and sex addict who travels the globe, living off the grid and taking out gangsters, deviants, and corrupt politicians — all while engaging in his own hedonistic pursuits as a hitman.” The 88-page book marks Hill (Alien et al.)’s fourth comics project, after “Triggerman,” “The Assignment,” and “Le Specimen.” It will be released in bookstores November 28, 2023, and comics stores the following day.

– Dark Horse will also release “Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories Annual — Jaxxon 2023,” a special by writer Cavan Scott and artist Nick Brokenshire, in which the rabbit-esque New Republic fighter pilot will find himself embroiled in a civil war on Endor. “Expect intrigue, conflict, calamity, and Duloks!,” says Scott. The comic will available via Dark Horse Direct, and at various events, including Star Wars Celebration Europe (running April 7-10), where it will be released with a cover of Mike Mignola. (You can read more about Mignola’s contribution here.)

Via AIPT, actor, writer and director Josh Ruben (Werewolves Within) is teaming up with artist Briana Tippetts for “Darla,” an original horror graphic novel being released by Invader Comics on May 31, 2023. The book follows the titular woman, who begins to lose her sanity after a workplace accident, and the fracking industry turns her water supply into poison. Ruben describes it in the press release as “a dark, wicked, kinda sweet, cringey-funny story about an embittered soul with an obsession for a local politician. Also, there’s a monster.”
