In case you missed it, AfterShock Comics have announced “Bunny Mask,” Marvel announced a new “Predator” series, and Image Comics have announced “Compass.” We also have an exclusive preview of next week’s “Amazing Spider-Man” #62.

– Via io9, IDW plans to release “Sonic The Hedgehog: 30th Anniversary Special,” an 80-page celebration of the characters’s milestone birthday that tell three new stories about Sonic and his pals. Alongside longtime Sonic writer Ian Flynn and artists Mauro Fonseca, Reggie Graham, Aaron Hammerstrom, and Thomas Rothlisberger, the book will also feature stories by Gale Galligan, and Justin, Travis and Griffin McElroy. “Sonic The Hedgehog: 30th Anniversary Special” will be available in June, thirty years after the first Sonic game was released on the Sega Genesis on June 23, 1991.
– BOOM! Studios announced “Basilisk,” a new supernatural horror series from “Bone Parish” writer Cullen Bunn and Jonas Scharf. It follows Regan, a former member of a cult that terrorized small towns with their powers; now she must work with one of her victims to hunt down the other four members of her kind. Issue #1 goes on sale in June.
– Image Comics announced “Vinyl,” a six-issue horror comedy series from writer Doug Wagner and artist Daniel Hillyard (“The Ride”). The book follows a serial killer named Walter, whose “best friend, the FBI agent charged with his capture, is kidnapped by a death cult of all-female sunflower farmers.” Walter will find “himself deep within an underground labyrinth filled with secrets and monsters… but are their monsters more horrific than his?” The first issue releases June 23.
– Having announced that Joe Benitez’s “Lady Mechanika” has found a new home at the publisher, Image also confirmed that the entire backlist of “Lady Mechanika” will be republished, beginning this August with both trade paperbacks and hardcovers. Image’s Free Comic Book Day offering on Saturday, August 14, 2021, will feature a reprint of the first appearance of the character, followed by a new series, “The Monster of the Ministry of Hell-th,” this September.
– In more Free Comic Book Day news, Dark Horse Comics have announced the creative teams for their Free Comic Book Day Silver offering, “Avatar: The Last Airbender/The Legend of Korra,” The “Avatar: The Last Airbender” short story is by Nadia Shammas, Sara Alfageeh, and Savanna Ganucheau, while “The Legend of Korra” story will be brought to life by Kiku Hughes and Sam Beck. Dark Horse’s “Avatar: The Last Airbender/The Legend of Korra” will be available on August 14, 2021 at your local comic shop.
– Via Nerdist, Dark Horse have announced that the adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s “Norse Mythology,” originally solicited as an 18-issue series, will be renumbered as “North Mythology II.” This time around the six-issue adaptation will tell of the wise god Kvasir, malicious dwarfs, and shady giants. Writer P. Craig Russell is working on the comic alongside artists Matt Horak (“The Punisher,” “The Covenant”), Mark Buckingham (“Hellblazer,” “Miracleman”), Gabriel Walta (“Barbalien: Red Planet”), Sandy Jarrell (“Archie,” “Meteor Men”), and colorist Lovern Kindzierski (“The Worst Dudes,” “The Sandman”). David Mack will provide variant covers for each issue. “Norse Mythology II” #1 will be in comic shops on June 16, 2021.
– Variety reports the CW has cast the lead for Naomi, the pilot based on the DC Comics character of the same name. Kaci Walfall will star in the title role as Naomi, a girl who pursues her hidden destiny after a supernatural event leads to the discovery of her powers. In addition, the pilot has added three series regulars: Alexander Wraith will star as Dee, the owner of a local tattoo parlor; Cranston Johnson will play as Zumbado, the mysterious owner of a local used car lot; and Camila Moreno will star as Lourdes, a young woman with a sarcastic sense of humor who works in a vintage collectibles shop. Ava DuVernay and Jill Blankenship are attached to write and executive produce Naomi.
– Via Deadline, Jason Behr and Claude Knowlton have joined the cast of the upcoming sixth season of the CW’s Supergirl in recurring roles. Knowlton will play a mild mannered alien whose tragic past allows him to help the Superfriends with their mission at hand. Behr will portray a famous or noted Kryptonian who plays a significant role helping Kara when she faces circumstances beyond her control. The character names are being kept under wraps. The sixth and final season of Supergirl premieres Tuesday, March 30 at 9/8c on the CW.
– Finally, Square Enix announced a road map of their upcoming new downloadable content for Marvel’s Avengers, including War for Wakanda, which will bring Black Panther into the fray along with villains like Klaw, a new enemy faction, the Wakandan Jungle Biome, a new outpost, a power level cap increase, and much more. This will be the biggest content drop since the launch of the game, and arrive sometime during or after the summer. Other new side missions will begin dropping some time in the spring.
