In case you missed it, AfterShock announced a second volume of the anthology graphic novel, “Shock.”
– Bleeding Cool confirmed that Jonathan Hickman has a new Marvel comic out this July, after last week’s speculation linking one of his tweets to a seemingly related one by Marvel. No word yet on what this new project will be.
– Speaking of Bleeding Cool, the website has issued an apology after claiming that third issue of Ann Nocenti and David Aja‘s critically acclaimed comic book “The Seeds” would finally be released at the beginning of March. Will it release as early as June? Time will tell. In the meantime, publisher Dark Horse/Berger Books are making the first two issues returnable.
– The Sacramento Immigration Coalition launched a bilingual comic series this past Monday titled “If ICE Comes Knocking.” The series is intended to teach young children about their rights as asylum seekers in the U.S. and keep families “safe” during encounters with Immigration and Customers Enforcement (ICE) officials. Not surprisingly, the announcement has garnered some controversy, particularly from Fox News morning show Fox & Friends. Still, the Sacramento Immigration Coalition maintains that the comic book is a tool to teach undocumented migrant children about their legal, constitutional rights.
– Chella Man is joining the cast of Titans as Joseph Wilson, aka Jericho, for the upcoming second season. Jericho is the son of the villainous Deathstroke (played in season 2 by Esai Morales), who is mute, but also has the ability to possess anyone by making eye contact with them. Man is a model, NYU student, and YouTube personality who shares personal accounts of gender transition and living “deaf, Genderqueer, Chinese, and Jewish.”
– The city of Stamford, Connecticut is feeling the love from Marvel as the setting for “Meet the Skrulls,” a series created by Robbie Thompson and Niko Henrichon about a family of shape-shifting aliens who have infiltrated society to pave the way for an invasion. However, as the Stamford Advocate points out, this isn’t the first time the city has been portrayed in comics; fans might remember it as the setting for Marvel’s ‘Civil War’ storyline in 2006.
– Finally, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina has a new trailer out, which shows Sabrina dabbling in the dark side of her powers. The new season hits Netflix on April 5, 2019.
